That's a matter of choice, I opted for 600D because I was getting it cheaper, otherwise I was more inclined towards D5100.

But whatever you opt, you won't regret...

Get 600D /w 18-55 and add 50mm f/2.5 Compact Macro Lens...The 18-55 kit lens will help you take Landscape and outdoor casuals. 50mm f/2.5 Macro will help you in Macro, Portraits and low-light (will compensate D5100 1 stop high-ISO advantage easily).

You can then add 320EXII or 430EXII flashgun that will further refine your photography and will even help in Macro (Remote Flash setup; no need of Maco Flash)

But if you already are planning for more variety of lenses then Canon is the way to go.

The difference in image quality of Canon 600D and Nikon D5100 should not mislead someone. Its like if Canon is 75 then Nikon is 78 in image quality.

Conclusion? .... both are really really good !!!
But ..... Nikon is a little better.

So, even if you choose Canon 600D u will be more than happy with its image quality.

A 800x534 pixel size image which is normally the standard on PakWheels cannot be told apart whether taken from Canon or Nikon with same settings. Its only 100% zoomed pixel peeping which tells you the difference when it comes to lower noise of Nikon D5100

I dropped the idea to switch to Nikon D7000 just because of crazy expensive lenses in high quality range while i have more variety and cheaper prices in Canon.

So, for your specific case, get a Canon 600D and then u will have budget for prime and flashgun as well alongwith other accessories

I like Khurram's idea as well. That lens will give double benefit of low light prime and macro as well. Consider that seriously.

What about tamron 17-50 f2.8 Instead of Kit lens ? I have seen videos of this lens with 600D And the result is owesome !

An ideal set-up good to go for long time from above choices would be:

- bag
- tripod
- wireless remote (cheap and ideal for macro, lowlight tripod shots and self portraits)

2. Nikon Nikkor AF-S f/1.8G Prime lens - 22-26k
3. Sigma 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 DC OS HSM Nikon-f - 23-26k

This combo will last your photography hunger for the next 2 years easily inshAllah. A possible alternate to the 3rd item can be this lens
