Which engine oil is best?

dear brothers i have newly bought a car suzuki khyber 95 model, its my first car, plz tell me that which engine oil is best for my car. what about castrol GTX, a person suggest me about it while another person is saying that BLACK TIGER engine oil is best, are these oils fine, plz suggest me about the best engine oil:)

go for an engine oil that suit s your budget and is API SL grade or higher. as usual i'll say

if you want a synthetic then go for:
Mobil 1
Zic XQ

If you want a mineral go for:
Fuchs Super GT
Petromin Ultra7

any other oil and you'll be wasing your money.

Black tiger does not seem of a good oil

castrol manganetic is which oils brand ? as in is it of shell or caltex ? or if u cud point me out where i could get it near the garden town area if possible...

secondly what is you guys' take on Total quartz 7000 10w40 SL grade... ?

For 20W 50 viscosity, go for Petromin Ultra 7.

For 10W 40 or 10W 30 go for Caltex Havoline Formula.

Castrol itself is a company.
Sometime back they were having some sort of partnership with PSO, but now you wont be able to get it from PSO outlets.
@OP I,ve been using Castrol GTX Magnetic in my Khyber and Im completely satisfied.
I dont remember the oil grading but I,ll check it tommorow.
Caltex Havoline is also good.
I,ve heard that Petromin Ultra works great so you can try it aswell.

The above answer is worth million dollars!!!

But remember higher viscousity is not always good. Try using something with lower viscousity unless stated by the manufacturers in the handbook.

Higher viscousity grades are thicker and increase oil pressure in the engine (which might sound good but is a myth) Increase in oil pressure does not mean more oil is being pumped but that oil is so thick it is hardly getting into the places it should be reaching, like crank bearings or oil lines in the block. Lower viscousity oil will reach places higher viscous oils will not.

example:
20w 50w would be thicker then

10w 30w and hence this would be thicker then

0w 30w

How good are OEM engine oils? As that from Toyota and Honda. My car would undergo first oil change, so should I switch to Havoline, Castrol, shell, etc...or stick to OEM for some more miles.

But I have been using castrol Magnetic 10-40 in city 2006, 2006, 2008 vario, Santro 2007 and Gli 2010, working superb for me !
using VIK oil filter and some LeoPan (something, not sure about name) Air filters so far.

Sir Honda has started offering a fully synthetic SM 5W20 oil as OEM.

For budget Mobil super is best, for no budget constraints Mobil 1 is best.

Oil filter is also equally important, previously Bosch and Mobil1 filters were available at plaza, not sure about nowadays.

I was considering mineral oils. Haven't used synthetics ! So far happy with mineral ones. Drain around 5k works for me.

The problem with oils is that your car won't start shouting instantly if you pour a bad quality oil in it. But the engine will wither down gradually in a few months.

HOWEVER, in case of an excellent quality oil, your car will feel lighter, smoother, especially at idling, better gear ratios(incase of auto) instantly.

I have felt that difference with Petromin Oils. I tried it about 4 months ago, and now every car/motorcycle/generator in the family runs on Petromin.

Guys vibration at idling means what?
Yesterday me and my frnd went to get an oil change in his alto, and even right after the change his alto was still vibrating with AC on at idle.
