Why cant we start CD70 Engine Manufacturing?

Now, when we have so many CD70 manufacturers and quite a size-able market, why can't all the motorcycle assembler pool their resources and invest in a company which manufacturer CD70 engines for the start! This will help them in their endeavors to export and protect the local customers against rupee devaluation! BTW I think Pakistan has the biggest 70cc market.
I shall specially request people from motorcycle companies like "RAVI", "PAKHERO" etc. besides other Pak Wheelers !

Are you asking about CD70 engines or 70cc engines? There is a lot of difference. CD70 is by Honda while any other 70cc can be of any Chinese or Pakistani bike.

Seriously, people are sick and tired of these 70cc bikes. I wish we had a poll posting option on the site and I would post a poll which would make the whole situation clear.

Honda's CD70 has enjoyed monopoly over the years but sorry to say that they have literally made improvement to shape, engine, comfort, technology and what not. To add insult to injury, the other Pakistani and Chinese 70cc bikes have copied CD70s shape and dynamics, everything is almost the same except that their quality is even worse. Someone on earth tell me whats so special about this CD70 shape that it cannot be IMPROVED or even CHANGED for Heaven's sake, but instead is copied by every other bike manufacturer that enters the production market. This is such a sorry state.

If I had enough to invest, I would have revolutionized the whole biking scene in our country. Trust me

Thanks for pointing it out, my mistake, yes I mean 70CC ENGINES for motorcycles.
Actually my inspiration was from Sialkot Airport, where local industrialist contributed for that. Similarly an engine manufacturing company can be formed with Board of Directors taken from all the fund contributing manufacturers.This can be a take off point for our motorcycle industry.

You talk like you have spent time out of Pakistan, thats not how things work in this country brother. You come out with a plan which may benefit the common lot, the consumers and the Big Guns would grease the palms of the authorities and Bang goes your whole plan. Why do you think we don't get any new dams in our country. Now I would rather hush and keep politics outta bike thread.

I dont want to indulge in a discussion on 70CC culture in Pakistan, my suggestion is to make at least an start, in the engine manufacturing, how humble it may be !
Later we can aim for higher grounds. All the big names,now, were very small companies in the beginning.

nice thread was thinking of starting it..but u started it first.. i have a lot of questions regarding this topic..i am not free nowadays else i would have written about it..hope when i get some time i wil research about it and bring more mterial... earlier i did some solid research about the components produced here..but due to time limitations i couldn=t bring them to ameaningful article..will contribute...excellant thread on burning issue.

1; lack of knowledge rather say literacy
2; kickbacks by international brands and international politics
3; disintrust by gov inpromoting healthy industrial based economy [read ,we are agri based economy]
4; national politics and fear of persucation based on ethnic,social issues..[requires very deep thinking of models praticed in soviet union]
5; we are never ready to believe in the simple fact that local problems requires local solutions... rather then having a global solution to local problem..[a simple case is of planting pollen alergy causing trees/plants to make capital greener]

As you know we have started engine component manufacturing, including forged, die casted, precision machining items; like Engine Crank Cases, Hubs, Body Cylinder, Head Cylinder, Crank Shaft and many other.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>

I hope in near future most of the engine parts will be available locally made, but except magneto, piston and some other items. This is a big achievement made by Pakistani manufacturers.<o:p></o:p>

I am not an engineer but dont you think that a company totally focused on engine manufacturing will be more cost effective for the motorcycle industry instead of every one inventing the wheel by itself ?
In future they will be in a better position to make improvements in the existing design or may start manufacturing more powerful motorcycle engines like 125/250 cc.I liked the discussion in this thread, very informative.

Pakistan participated to establish Singapore (now they issue u a visa without invitaition)

Thailand/Malaysia were way behind us.

Yes you are right butt Atlas (Alwin) will not help local brands (chines) to have those pistons as OEM:)
So someone else have to make a good quality piston to be OEM of local bike manufacturers.

pakistan can produce everything but our companies are stuck to the old designs which are totally outdated and if they make those parts here they wont get the international exposure

main problem is education

you can check out big websites here on net like ali baba if you search in motorcycles section you will find only leather goods like jackets bla bla

revolution comes slowly and gradually true but with that we have to change our designs and stuff

so what if one company makes engines but other companies can buy engines from them and make there own designed bikes even in 70cc

ok after some more research i came to following conclusions
Pakistan cannot make a 70cc bike engine in its entirety on its own.. but we have made missiles, planes,radars,drones,and nukes .. so to be indigenous is not to have each and every thing made here in Pakistan ... reason is that if some parts requires too much cost either in establishing industry or it is a trade secret but is something which is not subjected to sanctions ... which is the case here... i.e. that parts that are not made in Pakistan [for bikes] are purely civilian use tech and it is not subjected to economic sanctions... so it is not good to have an industry for such things...
[e.g. piston piston rings, carburetors(yar efi honi chaia), etc...]

as Pakistan makes its missiles there are literally thousands of parts in it and most of them are not made in Pakistan but still we are producing our missiles un restricted because we are only making things that are subject to sanctions and those that are not are imported... take an example of a jf-17 we could have allocated sufficient funds for its engine like India..but the fact is that in pursuit if indignation India couldn't produce its engine even after more then 25 years .. .. Pakistan on the other hand made it pretty quickly after she realized the fact that we should only have those things that are not prone to sanctions... [there is a difference between military and civilian use but again it is a complex equation involving politics and void of economies as military equipment is not made for sale in common market for gains but is used to protect a country a nation.. and this is the most important point in the context of the thread .. because bikes are made for common man and therefore we one should gear towards more indigenous parts ..and it is happening here .. very few things hope they will also be made here ..]
