Xli or City

I am in a fix... I wanted to go for Xli but recently price of XLI has gone up to 18 lacs.. between Xli and city 1.3.which do you think is a better car in terms of driving comfort, power, fuel efficiency and resale.

Xli .... Huh.... Come on sir. Don't compare a khota rehri with car.
Honda City has no match ... It's far better than GLI.
Go for 1.5 varient. Better power, better fuel consumption and pleasure to drive.

It depends where u have to drive the car most. If within Islamabad or Lahore or big cities, city is OK. else go for GLI. fuel efficiency n power of City is more but is requires care. City is like a nai naweli dulhan. It requires care and affection. If want a long term relationship, go for corolla. Burhapay ka sath nibhai gi.

Driving and passenger comfort, xli is better. Fuel economy and power , city is better.

Are you sure 1.5 has better fuel consumption....i heard themore the power the more the fuel consumption....

I heard drive and comfort of city can be improved by changing tyres.....

It's about body to power ratio. With 1.5 this ratio gets better and hence fuel efficiency increases

But it can never meet corolla. Xli is more spacious from inside, has much better suspension and comfy seats. So if you can afford, xli is better for families.

Well i recently drove a city with changed tyres.....the person has used toyo nanoenergy 3 tyres.....and belive me the car had become smoother than corolla.....it was as ifbthe city had become a different car and it was a pleasure to drive ar high speeds......i recently have driven my dads corolla which is a 2007 model.....so i can compare with that only and know nothing about the suspensions on newer models......

Try using corolla with same tyres ! Its personal choice in the end, city is a good car as well but corolla is a class higher by design, which cannot be changed. Corrolla's dimensions are comparable to civic just keep that in mind. I really liked city's shape and was almost about to buy it but then i sat in gli and within 2 minutes i decided in favour of corolla. Its much more roomier and comfier inside. Just visit showroom or try a friends car.

Yes you are right....the dimensions on corolla are same as civic.....the big problem is....the engine gli and xli are using are very underpowered.....it is a 2nz 84hp engine.......now with corollas weight which is 1279 kg......that is very weak engine....heck even faw v2 and suzuki swift have more powerful engines than what your gli and xli are offering......altis is a good option....as it is offering 120 hp engine.....but 84hp for car of corollas size is too underpowered.....i mean you are offering a car with the body of huge sedan with an engine less than a 10 lac rupee hatchback......that is just daylight robbery.....

Well i explained earlier in another forum as well. Xli and gli are not under powered. They have adequate power for an economy sedan to run at allowed speeds on all motorways in pakistan with max carrying loads. Offcourse altis is better as it will reach that max speed in slightly less time but does that few seconds matter that much ? For average family it doesnot. For others who have need for speed, even altis has much better alternatives. If one can afford, he must buy altis but if he doesnot then gli xli is next best option for families considering the same amount of space. For smaller familes and i dividuals city is also good.

Have you ever been to Nathia gali ? either from Murree or from Abbotabad ?

Thats' where you need the power of the 1.6 , as the 1.3 you will be using with only first gear.

I have just yesterday returned from that area with corolla 1.3, and my thoughts on the matter i have presented.

Now whether the 1.6 is brand new or the old model, I don't think that it matters much.

My Suzuki alto VXR drives in gear 3 in murree and nathia gali area. U buy that.

I have been to nathiagali many times, went to khunjarab , naran etc. Car is suitable for all terrains designed for cars. Even 800 cc suzuki carry climb thandiani with 12 peoples load. I know 1600 cc would definitely do better than 1300 cc but , 1300 cc wont stop you from doing a road, which is designed for cars. If you got the money, its always good to buy better and powerful car.

City is now 1330cc with higher registration and tax bracket, thus if you opt for city then 1.5 is better. Xli is bit under powered if you want to look for heavy footed driving, but for daily commute then it has enough to get the job done.
I was almost confirmed on city but the engine change made me change my mind. The budget has to be considered. The up front is more but the car is worth it. Secondly now even Xli comes with Airbags.
Personally i was short on cash so Xli was a strech already and gli would have been far too off a stretch.
If you can then Gli is worth the extra 130k.

130k....city 1.3 is a 16 lac car......xli is an 18 lac rupee car....there is 2 lac difference between them.....gli is a 19 lac rupee car....
