It was a long weekend and holiday for all of us and while Eid on Friday and the Ganesh Festival on Saturday were celebrated by most Indians, what do the rest of us do?. Go on a roadtrip, like i did and the destination was a hill resort town nestled in the Shevaroy Mountains 25km from District Capital Salem, in Tamil Nadu state. Yercaud is located approx. 425 km one way from State Capital Chennai(Madras) and that is where we set out from. Distance covered in this trip roundtrip was approx 875km.

What is the altitude? looks like a decent hill resort. Keep the pictures rolling...

Altitude is approx.5000 ft above sea level. I felt like my head was in the clouds most of the time, though!. More of this later.

This trip begins as we navigate a rural road through the mist as we picked up a friend who works in a small town 105km from Chennai.

Driving on the Interstate to take a detour into a state highway to Salem. The gloomy and rainy weather here continues to this very minute. Chennai was drenched as we drove in tonight!
