If the silver layer feels slightly raised than the white layer then the white layer is probably primer. I expected to see a darker color primer for your light color car but maybe its like that.

i think moisture crept into the cracks and got under the clear coat. delaminating it

Wet sanding may reveal if its primer or clear coat. I suspect clear coat totally oxidized.

the rest of the clearcoat looks cracked too, if you are keeping the car, paint it. one less eyesore

I'd say take it. 1000rs is nothing when it comes to paintwork.

1000 is too cheap to be good.

IMO if your clearcoat is peeling away, best to chip it away and apply some clear with a nailpolish brush to the damaged edges to prevent it lifting further.

The only true and correct way to repair this is a repaint from primer stage.

Yes, thats why I am still unable to believe if they really said 1000 and not 10000

But as per FB chat with them they quoted 1000.... sad part is they are located 15Km thokar on multan road ... rozay me to jana mushkil lag rha ha

Sir you mean the real paint underneath is fine and its jus clearcoat which is just dried and damaged? Then I think its possible to wet sand to remove it completely and then have new clear coat sprayed.

How about the Lacquer spray cans available in market, will they work?

Pretty much possible....but those tin cans won't work...you need car paint....it will be s pain to get a painter to just spray clearcoat

I seriously doubt the quality brother , the normal rate in market for a single piece is around 2k (local ustaad's)

If the quality is fine then there's no harm , but i would rather not let anyone paint the roof , get it wrapped in black or any other colour

Paint will devalue the car and the paint on the roof will make people believe the car was rolled over

Aah, decisions decisions ...... I think i leave it as it is only will try to buff off the dead clear coat
