Yokohama or pirelli? for 2.0D Corolla(2005 model) - 185/65 R14

I have a 2d (saloon) 2005 model and going to get its tyres changed. Had been using general tyres (I know I shouldn’t have!!). Need suggestions. I did some research by using the search button….got mixed opinions however<o:p></o:p>

Which brand do you guys recommend..<o:p></o:p>

Are yokohama db decibles or yokohama C-drive any good?? Are these tyres vulnerable to being punctured more often?? I have heard they are soft and have good road grip though <o:p></o:p>

What about Dunlop and bridgestone? What do you recommend for 2D and considering the roads in pakistan??<o:p></o:p>

Pirelli is also a great brand. I believe they have a Pirelli showroom at the back of Citibank blue area in islamabad. But I heard Pirelli is not good for our roads..is that true?…know of any specific Pirelli tyres that are worth looking into??<o:p></o:p>

I am looking for 185/65 R14 tyres…also suggest where to get genuine tyres (from fresh stock)<o:p></o:p>

1- Yoko (good in all aspects)

2- Bdgstone (good, durable, i'd say better than Pirelli..)

2- Pirelli (good but takes time to warm up and grip)

ive used pirelli p3000,its a reall nice tyre,much better then yokos,dunlop n good year,jus check how hard/soft is the p6000 before buying it,or if budget isnt a problem go for good year eagle f1 gs

You should look out for Bridgestone ER30 and Kumho KH11, they are premium tires, if you cannot find them, try Bridgestone GR80 or GR90.

Else look for Yokohama Decibel V550 if not available then Db ES501.

Tires get punctured when the DSP of P90 tries to do the time alignment, just kidding.

Just follow the traditional rotation pattern of tires after every 5K kms, 2.0D has more engine weight on front, front tires wear faster, rotate looking for their direction of tread and keep them clean and out of small stones from tread, use a good tire polish like Sonus and P21S wheel cleaner.

Pirelli P6000 are sports tires, not recommended for 2.0D and hard surfaces, will not last long then 50K kms, I replaced 2 front tires for 6,200 Rs in my 05 PROSMATEC, lasted 5 years and 53K.

Yoko C drive are good cheap tires, but nothing special.

yar some people here told me that Asad tyres in pindi are authorised dealers of yokohama. i called them up. C-drive not available. and fresh stock of db Decible ES501 is available. he told me each dB tyre is for rs6700!!

any opinions on Bridgestone potenza GIII?

At what price you are getting GIII?

Potenza GIII are good tires, again on the sporty side, if you can live with a little bumpy ride and faster wear its a very good tire, GIII is phased out, there is an upgrade of Potenza GIII, Adrenalin 001 which is short in market.

I think ES501 will be good to for you, you may like the grip and braking of Potenza GIII in the first year but after some time you will be annoyed with the ride quality on broken surfaces.

I've read some horror stories about Pirelli p6000. They wear faster and hydroplane a lot according to ppl on the internet.

As regards the make, go for any japanese or european brand as long as they are fresh. Old rubber becomes hard, so avoid that. You will be able to find late 2009 or early 2010 tyres in maket easily. Avoid more than 2 year old tyres at all costs. Also, kindly check where the tyres were made, some big brands get their tyres manufactured in China, Taiwan, Indonesia ect. Buy a japanese or european made tyre rathar than the ones made in other countries.

If I may, I would suggest that instead of the stock 185/65/14, you should upgrade to 15 inch rims with 205/60/15 or 205/65/15 sized tyres. I have used this size of tyres in 3 different 2.0Ds that i have had between 2006 and 2009. My experience is that the 15 inch rims with 205 size tyres give much better road grip/braking. These tyres will give you only a little extra hight that does not effect the aerodynamics on motorway. Trust me you would not regret upgrading to 15 inch rims.

rather than changing the rim size,poster can go for 205/60/14 n there will be 0.9% error as compared to when he shifts to 15inch error wil be more

dont mean to sound like a noob, but would the 205/60 r14 fit on my stock RIMs??
i dont want to change RIM size.. plus the 2D has ABS, and it functions properly when using the stock RIM size and tyre profile (as per my understanding)

anyway, today is the last day to decide. was busy in office all week. tomorrow morning i am going to get the tyres...

so any final suggestions are welcome...i am planning to go for the Yokoham dB decibel ES-501...

Sir Quote is for ES501, check Yokohama office near Faran Hotel at Nursey, V550 are very hard to find unfortunately, they were better then ES501.

Try to find ContiComfortContact™ 5 or Michelin Pilot Preceda PP2 if you can afford premium tires else look for Bridgestone Adrenalin Potenza RE001.

Sir try to find Bridgestone GR80 or GR90 else buy the Yokohama ES501.

185/65 R14 as stock is a good size, 205/60 R14 is also not bad, will offer more grip, 195/55 R15 matches near perfect.

ABS will engage when the tires will try to lock up in hard braking, the ECU monitors the tire size and rotation of all wheels irrespective of any size, so the chance of error is less, the only condition is that if you have installed different size tires on any of 4 corner.

Man i dont have any rates , You can call the person they will give you the exact rate, i usually get tire from them, they have fresh imported stock with warrenty and lowest rates

It should fit.

V550 is better, there should not be any visible difference in fuel economy if you switch to 205/60 R14.
