Zong stealing balance

I unsubscribed data package a few months ago as I wasn't going out much due to pandemic and turned off data in my phone. I used whatsapp to make almost all calls. Loaded up 500 rs some time ago and made maximum of 3 calls since then of less than 2 min duration.

I checked my balance today and its dropped to 200 rs. I called the helpline and they say that I subscribed to "Forest Games" package, which I didn't. What the hell is even forest games?

A few months ago my father threw away his Zong sim after getting fed up of his balance dropping without any reason. I then thought maybe he was turning on data without any package, but now I know, Zong is an unethical company.

My old Mobilink sim had 150 rupees in it which was resting in my drawer for over a year. I just checked the balance on it and its the same. The plus is, Mobilink doesn't expire your balance.

I am now thinking about porting my Zong number to Telenor.

Has anyone else faced similar problem with Zong?

Zong wale chor hn, ye data sim k data bhe chori krte hn. Same thing happened to me, i switched to jazz-warid doing great except signal drop problem. I switched to telenor mifi worked great for an year or so but now i v noticed that my data is being consumed thinking of switching to ptcl unlimited data plan

I am facing this balance siphoning in Warid since 5 months, I did not activate any packages and barely make any calls. same is the case with my family and some of my friends using Warid. I even checked the last 5 transactions and i got a report of 2018!! lol 2 years old report.

sorry for being off topic but the situation is somewhat similar. has anyone facing this issue?

I will try my best to explain step by step about why u all are losing balance.
Ur phones are designed to connect to GPS at least once in 2-3 days to get a trace of ur location. They do it to connect ur device to the nearest cellular tower. (God knows what else companies do with that info). And most of the time, GPS uses ur mobile data to make a connection overriding WIFI. it takes merely 10-20 KB to complete the process but u cellular company deducts some amount (Rs 1.5+).
Now, assuming ur device send GPS trace 3 times a week, Congratulations, u just lost Rs 5 per week.
U CAN ALWAYS STOP THIS SERVICE
1. Make an account by Signing-In to ur service provider Web page OR Mobile App
2. Check ur weekly usage, (which includes ur records for SMS, Call, Internet etc)
3. U will find GPS/GPRS or any other word which is regularly using balance of Rs. 1.5+
4. Unsubscribe this service from SUBSCRIPTION tab.
5. Do it from their Web page. Mobile Apps usually dont offer a very detailed break down.

I haven't faced any service issues and now I enjoy every rupee of my balance. HOPE IT HELPS

this is technically wrong statement.

mobile data never over ride WIFI connectivity in a 801 / 802 environment.

remember old school mono-block phones. specially the phones (motorola samsung & ericsson) in which a tiny led blinks to alert network connectivity. EVERY cellphone / data device need to 'PING" every 8 seconds with the service provider to ensure availability over network. That ping contains the data as in device distance (50 meter radius) from nearest network tower, imei number, SSID (SIM ID).

That ping is called "Present Sir " ('connectivity over network') free of charge by service provider.

if a phone / data device is powered ON network connectivity is available, it is done every 8 seconds means 7.5 times every minute, 450 times in an hour & 10800 times in 24 hours.

Jazz also keeps using some balance. I have not been able to figure out why and their services are very bad in terms of signals. You will not be able to get 4g signals and will not be able to talk on a regular call without sound breaking up inside a building. I can say this safely having used it in multiple locations in at least 3 cities.

I was thinking of switching but seems like others are no better.

Same thing happened yesterday. Subsrcibed to jazz work from home bundle. Instead of bundle i got jazz load of 107 rupees. Called helpline twice but they never accepted. Value added services with daily deduction like "game league" are automatically added after few months.
PTA is also hopeless, tonns of emails are pending.

This is true. Balances from Zong tend to disappear magically. However as for porting my friend tried to port his number and as a result lost the number altogether. One company said sir pecha sa nahi ker raha, second said sir hum na ker diya ha woh nahi ker raha. One of the companies were Zong.

I have observed this on my Zong number too. If I load Rs 100 and keep mobile data off, after one or two days my balance is less than Rs 10. Max I might have sent 3 or 4 sms or made one or two calls. I receive message my balance is less than Rs 10. So now I just load 500, subscribe to my monthly data plan and kiss the remaining Rs 50 or so bye bye.

I have heard so many such things in recent days. I also experienced similar, i was out and used data package, but it drained it so quickly that I have doubts what is going on. Although I did not stream or downloaded videos. I am on zong.

Thank you for nitpicking while completely ignoring the point.
And while are you at it please do tell what apps are you referring too jo pechay chalti rahta hain, credit ka sataynass kerti hain? Because as far as i am concerned first i dont have many apps in my phone other than a whats app or FB. No games no tiktok nonsense, no likee, no instragram, no twitter. Besides all apps have an option to turn it off over data network or use it only over wifi. At least i have in my phone. Third even if some apps do pecha sa work, still you would need data connection to turn on which in my case i never use it because i dont use Zong data on my phone.

GPS only uses hardware chip to pinpoint your location. It has nothing to do with mobile data, unless you're using navigation, but in that case mobile data must be on.

Apps in the background or on the front can't turn on data without permission.

My data is off, and there is no data usage, Zong hasn't charged me for data usage. As mentioned in my original post, they enabled some games package on my number without my permission and it was not showing up in the My Zong app.

Only balance was dropping, so I called helpline and asked if there is any hidden packages enabled on my number. Thats when they mentioned "forest games" package.

If this wasn't a scam, they would have listed this package under MyZong app.

So anyone facing problems with balance dropping should call helpline and ask them if you're subscribed to any hidden packages.

Unfortunately, the helpline also charges per minute and I guess we will have to pay for waiting if the operators are all busy. Another ploy by Zong to earn more money through its charged helpline

this is getting quite commonplace in Pakistan, toll charge calls for customer service.

It's a ploy to earn money from pathetic services. These issues have to be resolved at the government level and not on individual levels. I'm thinking of lodging a complaint on an appropriate online government portal.
