23lac for base variant (would be too much imo),however, it all depends on how many feature they are going to offer, if not enough people will probably opt for grande, which is a good car.

And the top of the line variant will cost close to 29 lac, considering Vezel's price it might not be able to capture the market well enough.

P,S: Wouldn't the duty on a 1.5 engine be less?? Is there any hope that they'll actually reduce the cost :p

Duty will be less, but 1.5T is expensive than 2.0 in international market

I'm hopeful, top of the line model will not cross 25 lac. If they do, Grande is here for People

That's what I am trying to hint. Honda can convert a lot of Gli customers by introducing 1.0 ltr turbo at that price range.

They don't have manual in USA for a reason. No one buys manual over there and if some does want to buy manual they buy the Si model. This does not mean that it's not possible to hook a manual transmission to the new turbo engines. The new Si model is getting a 2.0 ltr turbo with a manual transmission.

USA do have manual in 2.0 with 6 speed manual transmission.

While, manual version of 1.5 turbo will be launched in USA in 2017.

We have to wait for Chinese launch civic either they offer manual version of 1.5 or not.

Btw Chinese market also getting the same engine options 1.5 turbo and 2.0L.

Civic above 2.5m will be overpriced because it will have poor quality and barely any features.

Sales figures look promising for 9th gen. Still people think, it was a flop generation in USA?

I always mentioned , corolla and civic brand names don't sell by what Toyota and Honda come up with. They will still sell .. no matter its good or bad... remember that even becuase of too many negative things about 9th, and dozen of other options to buyers in US, it still well sold. People here buy these economy cars as daily runners, there is no concept of re sale as on average every car lose 20% on average as soon as it gets registered. People buy and put miles on it. Its cheap to buy and easy and cheaper to maintain with low insurance costs..

If only that were true here in Pakistan too... Cars would remain mere cars and not major lifetime investments for most people.

This 'resale' factor prevalent locally raises the entry barrier for new companies too high since not many buy cars from brands not already having a major market share. e.g. Atlas Honda and Indus Motors vs Nexus Automobiles (Chevrolet), Suzuki vs FAW, etc.

Most of the owners had good reviews about this car so overall it has been well received. I guess its not as per your liking that's all.

Vezel does not generate the power equal to 1.8 in any case...
According to wikipedia 1.5 engine of vezel is 130 hp and the motor produces a further 30 hp , the weight of both civic sedan (9th gen) and vezel ~1270 kg as per wikipedia, which means that vezel is very very fast. Most of the owners report its 0-100 timings ~8sec and besides it goes head to head with markX 250g (seen a video). So not a sluggish car by any means.

So overall the price cost of the engine for the end user will pretty much be the same. Still I think 2lac increase would be too much. But the question is with all those features is it really?

At one point I was about to buy but when I tested it... awful experience (nothing personal).
In one of the forum of vezel it's a total misguidance by few persons that hp of vezel is 150 or more. And to justify it they add the power of engine and hybrid battery which is technically and practically wrong because only one source is activated at one time. so either 132 hp or 23hp. Vezel does not generate the power equal to 1.8 in any case...

Cant agree with you brother.. get your facts right
Both sources are activated together and if you are light on paddle the car only uses batter power otherwise both engine and battery work together which makes a combined of 15o hp or more

Coming back to Civic-X, my guess would be it's going to escalate by something between 100,000-150,000
As far as a 1.5 being cheaper, that's not a rule. It's also about the higher quality of end product which a company that has spent fortune to bring to existence has done it for profits. Also import duty on a cbu and ckd is totally a different criteria and what a lot of fellows here are quoting "1.5 should be cheap due to less duty" does not apply here since Atlas civic is not an imported cbu.
