Guys, the following are the latest updates:

The fuel Mileage was my big concern. I took the car back to Jamil Autos for the compression test to see if the engine was built properly.

I also asked Mr Irshad to also arrange used O2 Sensor, MAF Sensor, Fuel Injectors so we try and see what works and what doesnt..

Comression Test.

The compression test on all 4 was between 170 and 180 which is pretty good so we moved to on the next item O2 Sensor.

As soon we saw the condition of the O2 sensor, we felt that this is a problem, we changed the sensor, cleared the codes and went for the test drive. I drove from Jamil Autos to Bahria Town, the following is the result.

Currently my city average is between 11-12 with AC on and between 14.5-16 on the highway. I am pretty happy.
The great thing with Irshad Bhai is that he arranged several used parts to try and the part which we didnt work, we were able to return it.

My experience is that the engine rebuild specialist will just rebuild the engine, they will not look at anything else. You have to research on your own, make a list of items that could be worng and force your mechanic to excel.

Please do keep us updated about the mileage in city after about a week.

My Gli manual gives excellent mileage on the highway, but acts like a Prado - 7-7.5 kmpl - in city.

Not sure about the history, looks like the outer shell is missing. Previous owner or the mechanic did something really stupid with it.

Paid 6,000 for the sensor, its not used, bought a new one. The one in the picture is the old sensor which we removed.

If you tried everything, try replacing the O2 sensor. You can call Irshad bhai to arrange one for you, you can drive it for a day and see if there is any improvement.

What is your average on the highway?

If I maintain 80 to 90, I get 14 to 15 kmpl. I got this average when the roads were nearly empty during a public holiday. The average drops significantly to 7 to 7.5 during medium to heavy traffic as the avg. speed varies between 40 and 60.

I will tell my office mechanic to try changing the 02 sensor. It might boost the average.

It doesnt make sense, if you are getting 14 to 15 on empty roads, you should get above 10 in the city in the traffic. Unless you are stuck in the traffic for hours everyday.

I have been forcing my driver to change his drive habits, use a light foot, do not accelerate from idle etc. It makes a lot of diiference.

Due to traffic on the route I take (water pump to Nagan chowrangi), I am forced to vary the speed continously. This may be the reason for max 7.5 kmpl average.

I will also talk with my company admin about changing O2 sensor. I think it may be the culprit for the low average.

mine altis 1.6 2013 give 8-8.7 with a/c in normal traffic of karachi.

You won’t gonna get 10+ in karachi city traffic on Auto it’s very hard to get once I tried to drive like extreme mariyal driver​ not exceeding 60 kmh then I got 10.8 to 10.9. Actually with auto you have to floor your car little more to pick up the required momentum.

Not much within city drive but huge difference in consumption of fuel on high/motorway.
One I got 17+ of average on altis 1.6 2021 within speed limits on average throttle.

I agree. I have read 1600cc and 1800cc cars are more fuel efficient as compared to 1300cc for whatever reason.

Please do update about average kmpl and speed in City traffic after about a week or so. The average of 11 with AC is amazing for a 1.3 Corolla.

Its been 3 days since i have changed the sensor. My daily commute is between Clifton and Maymar and I drive over 120KMs / day.
The lowest average was 10.5 when i was waiting for someone for half an hour with engine running and AC on. It went back up while driving.

So far so good. I will report back in few days.
