the valve job was an example on a broader stroke - an engine in a 4x4 doesnt magically become "awesome" its still the same principle of operation/service.
Most mechanics (all) dont know that if you mess up the injection timing in a diesel you will affect blowby, for them scrapped worn out tools and "haath wala andaaza" is supreme. While anyone who follow the service book can single handedly beat their "haath wala andaaza" every single time. These morons refuse to invest in any tooling from which they earn money yet expect their word to be gospel - lol. Not happening in this world. They cannot even get a toyota 2C diesel back to spec. (examples above)
I believe you have not seen ancient farm equipment being used. 25 years is nothing and all that the farmers do is maintain it, unlike our nawaab population who expect class A service without paying.
As I have previously said - 90% of the people can do 90% work - its the last 10% that actually matters and to get that remaining 10% you need to spend 50% more of your money.
e.g. any moron can wrap a timing belt on a 1HD-T. A pro will also adjust pump timing with dialgauge too (its mandatory). - Usually morons dont own dialgauges and rely on "awaaz and andaaza" and forget the timing tensioner mounting washer.
I have also witnessed morons not pay attention while installing main and big end bearings, there is a specific way to install it so the "crush" that is required is perfectly inline to the bearing case split line and its mandatory to have the bearing back surfaces spotless and free of oil. This kind of accuracy is not found in moron shop and customer suffers as moron doesnt take any responsibility.
