Don't know either, When i opened it, pieces were over here.
Small dc motors with bushes have these plastic shims.

I am still worried about my fan. Should i let it run till is stops working again, or take it apart and see where is the origin of these shims?
Yes and even bigger ones.You should open it up and add similar pieces. Shim basically centers the rotor.

I was just looking how to dismantle the fan. But it is has rivets. They other way around is to pull the fan out. Might break in the process.
