Alto VXR 2008 - my first company car

Salam PWers,

I have received this beautiful Olive Green 2008 model from my company. I cant thank Allah enough for this . Will try this thread to be my experience with this Alto, and discuss\ask more about it.

Its driven 93k kms by our HR member since 2008. It has CNG and was also run on it for quite time.

My first setting done on it was to make it run on petrol. So the restriction from intake was removed and the timings were set accordingly. I am aiming to get 10kmpl avg from this (will discuss later on this)

But firstly, its on direct fan and no thermo 🤦🏻‍♂️ and the heat gauge stays at the middle. Radiator is a month old only. I want to know if i make it auto with thermo then, where will the heat gauge be?... I want to go auto fan cause it should then give me better fuel avg on a warmer engine. Pls advise.

Many congrats on receiving your office car. It's a big accomplishment in your career. Today it's a small sized car and tomorrow it shall be a new sedan.

Regarding the issue at hand, you have to check for coolant leaks, condition of hose pipes, water pump functioning, auto fan's relay etc. before putting back the thermostat valve.

Yes I will check other stuff related to cooling system... But I wasn't sure about where the heat gauge would be, cause its already at half in current setting.... Or should I just see it eventually when i have installed thermo?

Temp gauge is at too high a point without the thermostat.

You may also check the head gasket symptoms like coolant mixing with oil. Please first address all cooling system items before putting back thermostat valve.

Got seriously busy with work and personal stuff...still busy though to even hangout here on this forum

Anyways, some update after 7\8 months of running this car;

• rear wheel bearings changed 2 times
• routine oil, oil filter, air filter changed once.
• oil pump failed again after an year, resulting in 1 piston getting destroyed after the gudgeon pin gave way..i was in peak traffic and crawling when the engine went full tractor ..🤦🏻‍♂️... engine overhauled again for this
• whole exhaust pipe changed, cause it was making irritating rattling sound from its inside.
• fuel avg improved after above whole part replacement... Was doing 290kms on a tank, now its 320kms.
• brake pedal and steering vibrates violently on braking...does discs need facing\machining or they are toast already?

Queries\help required;

• between shifting gears the RPMs dont drop instantly, rather drops after a second or two. What's the reason for this to happen?

• driving seat is totally crap now. The cushion below feels tilted towards left, and the cushion on back support is also pressed a bit from left... So it feels as if i am sitting tilted to left side, and this so uncomfortable 🥺... Please, need help to correct this ASAP.. suggest someone who can make it good.. i m in Khi.

• steering is toooooooo hard.. i m literally using my whole body to turn it.... PLEASE suggest from where in Khi can i install the jdm alto power steering setup in it.. how much will it cost.

Not sure but it might be the cause... also drum might need tooling...

It is the working of dash pod... it is normal... when you remove foot from accelerator it slowly drops rpm... it takes normally 1-2 second... if taking more it can be adjusted...

Alto steering is not that hard... there might be less air in tires if not it may be suspension and steering rod issue...

Visit Afzaal 0300 2116069, will solve all suspention issues...

Rpm actually stays high for 1 2 secs...feels like when you are shifting and ur foot is still pressing the accelerator, while i already lifted my foot... So i have to wait to release the clutch takay jhatka na aye.

Tyres are fine.. will get the steering rack etc checked... However i still want to go EPS on it.

I will not suggest it... i have driven alto it is very easy to drive first solve the issue related to steering rack and then if you still feel need then go for it...

You can adjust the dash pod by rotating its pin...
Want to do it your self?

Remove air filter box
Then observe the dash pod which is moving when you give accelerator (you can give accelerator from the accelerator wire located on the carb) and slowly go back with decreasing rpm...

You will see the pin on it...

Rotate it and set it till 1 second...
Dont set it such that rpm decrease as soon as you remove you foot of the paddle or as your car will turn off when you lift of the foot...

How come you know thermo valve is not present? The temp needle is staying at Half always OR stuck at Half OR slowly creeps to half mark after driving some kms.

For steering hardness, if u are in karachi. Go to Afzal bhai as mentioned in a post above. he will guide for the correct measures. even if u want eps, he have a guy who converts into eps and it will cost approx 14-15 k as per rates nowadays. it can go above or maybe low.

Sort the steering issue so u get the driving pleasure then sort the Seat issue. after that go fo RPM issue.

Cause its company car and i know its history... The temp gauge rises to half position like it should normally... But considering its fan is direct, the gauge should be bit lower than half.

Any reference for the seat issue resolution? Its more painful than the steering

Haven't done anything on the seats issue yet

But the AC is not working in khi heat and sunlight... It keeps on tripping again and again. Night time it works fine.... Any help or suggestions?

Could be due to high pressure...
