Well its written somewhere to check transmission oil when car gets optimal temperature in P mode while engine is running and somewhere it says get the optimal temperature put car in P or N mode shut down the engine and then check. Which is the correct way ?

The check when hot after immediately shutting down engine is for Hondas only. All others with dipstick are checked with running engine and have provision for both hot and cold, Ideal temperature to test is the warm/hot spec.

on some transmissions the dipstick has a stamped temperature - e.g. mazda 2 3 5 and 6 with the older 4 spd have a temperature requirement of being at 65-75C ATF temperature.

Point is.

Bro, as you have said your transmission oil has burnt smell. Its better to change fluid oil. In Pakistan you wont able to find its filter and gasket. Change the oil, and keep looking for filter etc. when u find any then drain this oil. put the new filter. if the oil condition allows you to pour it back then do it otherwise buy new one. because your transmission has delay shift as well. Please when you drain the oil measure it ans then according to that pour the new oil in transmission.

One more thing I noticed is transmission start may theek hoti hai but jab car thorhi garam hojaey phr pangay start hotay hain... Kahin oil cooler ka tu issue nahi is may k oil thanda na horaha ho

Your trans oil is expred. i would say, you need to get any decent mechanic who listen to you. Go with the mind with you open the chamber but, ask him to drain oil and see the oil condition. and share his honest opinion. if the oil is kinda foamy or find any grains. then open the chamber. As you are not the first owner and you have no idea how many times the chamber has opened. as far as i know the gasket last for 2 to 3 times if the chamber was opened and closed properly. Your car is driven almost 100K kms. and i hope the ever its chamber has been opened for one time only. or if you go for oil change and you find that there is no gasket and silicon work has done? So go with a silicon backup with you.

About the oil filter, it has that steel kinda filter, You dont have any other option so clean it properly and use it again. in chamber there is a mall magnet as well, dont loose it and place it back there. its there to catch any wear n tear.

Or this sounds stupid but can double your expense. just change the gear oil and run your car for 500,600 kms and change it again if dont wana open chamber. The more you delay to change your trans fluid, more will be chances to open the trans chamber

Yes you are right but why such an important part is not available in Pakistan as Toyota parts are commom as hell

But still parts are very common I never faced difficulty in finding parts but here D.G khan its hard to find less common parts but I am damn sure that in Karachi it will be available at Japan Autos Plaza but I have no access to them

there is no calibration in this - as its a self learning system, it sharpens and softens shifts as it learns how you drive.

I also have removed Thermostat Valve due to unavailability of new one but at Japan Autos it was available

does it slam into gear?

does it elongate a gear shift?

does it try to double shift?

does it bump shift?

does it shudder on TCC apply and depply?

Transmission behaviour is heavily dictated by the MAF sensor too as the ECU takes it primarily for calculating load and driver requirements. If its been been given ghusal - e - mayyat multiple times then its better to connect a good scan tool to the car and see what the shift timings are and what is the MAF sensor doing.

I have repaired countless toyotas with bad shifting transmissions. Also I find it hard to believe that a U341E is equipped with a strainer. Strainers ended with the oldschool A types.

yes, but that would manifest itself as overheated transmission. The cooler itself also needs to be flushed out on every fluid change as it does trap debris inside itself. Here in USA sprays are sold that flush out the cooler nicely. You can use fresh hot ATF and an air compressor to flush it back and out, You have to pulse it clean to remove trapped debris.

But I saw in Parts Catalogue it has a strainer having part number 35330-0W020

toyota calls all transmission filter as strainer. Once you see it in hand you will see that they are cellulose paper or nonwoven fabric or steel mesh or nylon mesh.
