Best Engine oil for old engines. (1993)

After changing the OIL SEALS it is now 10 days. Thanks GOD Engine is fine now. And there is no oil level drop now. I had baught SHELL HELIX CNG wala from petrol pump. So

my conclusion is that if oil level drops significantly with smoke visible also as in my case then certainly there is a problem in engine and we cannot blame Engine oils for that.
However I cannot say about small drop in oil levels.

Hi All,

I want to know which engine oil is best available for 1993 model engine(Hyundai Excel CNG) . I recently overhauled the engine and engine rings are still on standard size. But very disappointed when the oil level dropped again after running 500 kms. My mechanic told me that now adays the engine oils sold are already used. and cannot bear with high temperature. So when engine gets hot the oil burns it self.

So now I am serious about finding a good quality and cost effective engine oil for my 93 model Excel.

I searched the pakwheels but most people only discuss the synthetic oils. which is not good for old engines. and also are costly.

Moreover after searching many threads I came to the point that Caltex havoline is better brand than others. Before that I had my mind that Caltex oils are all Synthetic.

My Question

Can any one tell me the best engine oil(non-synthetic) with prices if possible

The best engine oil is XADO 10W-40 SL/CI-4 CITY LINE.

I dont think so there the problem ur facing is coz of oil there s surely some decsrepancy regarding ur engine i think theres a lack of workmanship.There r things needed to to checked are the clearences b/w rings piston and bore r properly maintained, late machinist will check it out or if its ok then u should check ur engines temperature it might be exceeding the prescribed limits.Annyway as far as oil brands r concern ZIC made by Korea is a very good oil if its genuine.

yes agree i used all type of oils but my problem solved by using DRUM OIL (khula oil) 1 liter mix with any brand oil

Any gasoline motor oil from Caltex or Zic that suits your pocket.
Mobil 1 and others seem quite expensive for an old car.

your engine temperature plays a great deal of charecter too, if its running too cool the oil will not steam off any condensed water and other stuff, engine oil needs to held at 100 or 115 degrees celsius for proper expansion of the added polymers and to steam off any H2O also.

Thats why cars come equipped with thermostat valves (which our roadside mechanics remove religiously)

brother dont use syntheti oil for high mileage vehicle, go for mineral oils like petromin ultra7, mobil, caltex havoline.

also as the temperature is rising and summers are approaching go for 20w50 grade.

Did you try Shell Helix RED bottle? I used that when my car was on CNG, and my car never dropped oil, although.. the other oils like the caltex havoline formula, shell's yellow and blue bottle.. they used to drop alot..

i use yellow 10W 40 in my mehran and it reduces oil but im stunned as car gives no smoke at all still oil level is down?
lets try castrol GTX this time some one else suggested me it as well

but it`s depend on you what you can afford for your car i am using CALTEX HAVOLIN FORMULA since 1996 i am satisfied

if your car is burning oil that`s may be not your mobil oil fault check it propely

may be your oil pump is faulty your head gas kit is weak , what ever is it ?

but use always one good brand motor oil for your car

i agreed but both of conditions are harmfull for vehicle oil is running in the car like blood in our bodies
