First of all get relax bro...! If that car will be written in your fate... it will be yours... no one can stole it from you if ur name is written on it...!
First of all you need to define a little more about ur cousin's car. Please let us know the Chassis no. of that vehicle, the year of manufacture and the most importantly the gearing sequence. For your help I am sharing the gear pattern from which you can easily classify ur cousin's car:
P, R, N, D, 2, L (3 speed auto)
P, R, N ,D4,3,2 (4 speed auto)
P, R, N, D, S, B (CVT tranny)
Futhermore compare your car with the one's given in the following list. It will tell you what car it is and it is a CVT or not.....! Here is a easy check:
Lets compare the two Vehicle Identification plates:


If your car chassis no is like DBA-L275-GHMF then it will surely be a 3 speed auto. Next,
If it is like DBA-L275-GBGF/PF/PF/VF then it will be a CVT tranny car.
