You tested the coil when engine was hot???
Sent from my iPhone 4S using PW Forums mobile app
did you overhaul your G13B?
Looks like leak in HG
No.....to be honest I forgot about that. I will retest again with the engine hot
Not necessarily, but still I will do a more thorough test when I have time, right now the car is grounded since it is wasting fuel.
You are supposed to do the test with cold engine..As resistance increases with the increase in temp so hot coil will not give you accurate results
the coil should checkout fine both when cold or hot, if its not showing correct values when hot it should be replaced as its not upto the job anymore...
Sorry there was a mistake by me when I sent you the reference values, i may have been on crack
primary resistance: 0.9 - 1.1 ohmssecondary resistance : 10900-14500 ohms
your primary resistance is too high
I will retest just for satisfaction, the previous test was on a cold engine. Car had been parked for 5 hours
What is the source for these new values?my data sheet had the same values as you mentioned in the pm.
autodata database
I was on crack again I suppose, the values I gave you in pm are correct, these new values are for TBI G13BA
sorry once again lol
It happens :p....sadly this means that my coil is weak.....btw my car had the second gear jhatka problem from the time it was delivered brand new, who knows it might have been the coil all along
while you are still on crack.
try the bonnet feel test.
Now is a good time to find thimbles, the thimbles on the wires connected to the coil were rusted stuck, I didn't risk removing them in fear of breaking them
used to be Rs 5/dozen when I roamed in town.
I will try to find them at nearby hardware stores and spare part shops....otherwise I will bother my school lab guy :p....
they are easily available at auto electric stores, usually the ones who also sell motorcycle stuff - For OE thick metal type there were a few stores in karachi who sold them, Rs 5/piece. Required a strong crimp tool.
I found this connector hanging near the carburetor, is this a spare?
that looks like switched power (yellow/black). There is a solenoid on the carburettor that gets 12V +ve with switch on. Is that connected?
btw - stick a multimeter probe in it and test it.
No I guess some stupid left it unplugged, judging by the dirt its been like this for weeks atleast, I will check it in the morning
Btw what is the job of that solenoid?
