I have never tested it beyond 999 or may be i don't remember it at the moment... Why not use a phone app to record oil changes etc? or a simple excel sheet. You can record all expenses there

i understand, im gonna start doing that, but what i always do is use TRIP A for Fuel average (after every full tank) and i reset TRIP B after getting oil change. damn this civic cluster really dont go beyond 999

Japanese D17 with single VTEC. That'd give you around 11kmpl urban.

Pay attention to ECU code to know what kind of engine you are buying. Google the code for donor vehicle identification. There are many versions of D17 with different power and torque figures, and ECU code is the only way to identify them because JDM motors come with only 4 letter code i.e D17A and the 5th letter that identifies the type of engine, isn't there in Japanese engines.

well i bet my 11yrs old vti doesn't have a CAT converter
No noticeable change in mileage after shift from 20w50 to 15w50 Delo uptill now (600kms running so far )

You should really switch to 5w30 though. That's recommended viscosity for your car and it'd deliver better protection and mileage. w30 would run colder as well, which is important in our summer.

I'd never use 15w40 in ES, or any modern car for that matter.

I was looking through spec sheet of total quartz 5w30 and zic 5w40. The difference in viscosities of both oils at 40degree and 100degree was negligible (in points)... So it is advisable to use 5w40 oil in summers? The weather in ISB gets quite hot in peak summer and with AC running thin oil might not be a wise choice?

Well the issue is that my ES has a "weak head Gasket " issue and this is what keeps me away from pouring thinner viscosity oils and the car doesn't even have a thermostat valve
so the 50ish summer scares me from another heatup

how is that possible? car must have thermostate valve. it opens for the coolant to pass once it reaches optimum temp level.
