Bai you are right not all engines are yamaha made but most of them and all 1jz, 2jz, 3s, 4a, and others are all Yamaha manufactured. Not just the head work but the whole engine. And the head work is propriotory of Yamaha. Remember only motorbike engines have 5 valve per cylinder other then Alfa Romeo, and Ferrari.
Being a Tuner, I can tell you right away you can take any engine to any level of tune the only limitation is budget and human beings. So 1000hp+ honda engine is very possible but that would mess up the drive and over all balance of the car. So a 1000hp NSX is not a dream but has been done, but a 500hp NSX could easily beat on the track (not drag racing). Same with the Supra, all the 1000hp cars only good for Drag racing and guess what they get beaten there too. Coz supra suffers from a terrible traction issue. NSX on the other hand is not a Drag car and it was never intended to be. NSX was a Challenge to Ferrari F355 and it won hands down. And showed Ferrari Honda can do it better. And that was a wake up call for Ferrari. It was NSX that lead the Challenge to the Super cars, not Supra. Again Honda has been the leader in challenging and opening new market fronts and Toyota has been a follower. Yes Toyota has more sales, coz its discovered a formula to make vanilla cars and has stuck with it Just like GM which made crappy cars. If you think sales show the a car manufacturer is better, well then GM is better then Toyota, nope. Just like that Honda makes superior products and has entered the Pakistan market very late coz Honda was late on the Car manufacturing scene. The chassis and supension of the Honda are derived from F1 cars. The infamous Double wishbone suspension, which is found in F1 and most supercars and exotic cars.
What I am going to say next should tell you a lot about Toyota. Its Iconic car the Toyota 2000GT is not designed by Toyota. This really sets me on fire that they had nothing in it from Toyota other then that they paid their way through, Just to change their Vanilla image. Guess what when did the M series engine come to toyota, It came from the 2000GT from Yamaha. Yes the 7MGTE and others are known as the M series. That is how old the M series is.
