Lifan has failed to make any major inroads into the national Chinese market over the past 2 years but they do remain a large player in the Chongqing and Sichuan areas where they have a loyal fan base. At the Shanghai Auto Show Lifan’s small stand showed their plans for the next two years, a new mid size sedan and also two mini vans.
The 720 is a mid size sedan that will rival the BYD F6 in terms of sizing, pricing and positioning, the 720 has already been spotted out testing in China, the Chinese media were quick to compare the 720′s interior with the current Honda Accord.
The 720 will be packing a 1.6L and a 1.8L engine complete with 5 speed manual and also a CVT gearbox that were self developed by Lifan themselves. A launch date has not been confirmed, but Lifan insiders have mentioned that it should be on the market within this year.
