LJ78 - 1991 Land Cruiser

When i bought this vehicle I wasn't sure if it has rust free floor or not. However, after 1st wash I came to know that Masha'Allah it is rust free. Than and there I decided to take it one step ahead.
Hence, after a long delay I took it to work shop and done some under body treatment.

Body was washed with petrol, surf and degreaser. Than RAGAR RAGAR RAGAR with steel and sand paper.

sir i silently enjoy many DIY threads indeed yours is also very nice, specially the rust removal before under coat application i checked another person shared rustoleum rubberized coating rattle can at daraz

Jazak'Allah for appreciation. Sir as mentioned my vehicle had almost no rust. However, there was tones and tones of dust and mud there. I surely did my best to remove that before applying the paint.

If you look closely I have three types of paint that specialises in rust control:
1st paint doesn't leave space to let air enter between the surface and paint. That means no oxygen can touch the surface hence no rust. That what they claim
2nd can is so called rubberised coat aka "Daney wala paint".
3rd one was head resistant paint.

I noticed I have 19 number nuts on wheels and someone told me to swap them with 21 number. Boley tu 21 ki choori wala. So its time to get started.

why do you want to swap is there any problem ?

No. Can't call it a problem but I have noticed two things.
1. Tools I have in vehicle are of 21. which means Company fitted came with 21 (May be)
2. 21s have long extended thread aka choori which goes inside the rim as well so it can hold wheel better (Thats what I think)

All toyota lugs are always 21mm metric (also takes 13/16 socket)

yours probably has been swapped for usual 19mm metric lugnuts, (also takes 3/4 socket) whatever you do, make sure the taper on the end of the nut is correct shape at the open end and matches the wheel.

some land cruisers with alloy wheels came with flat washer lug nuts as opposed to the usual acorn style that @capsat posted. - Both are not interchangeable and should be used with the correct wheel design.

@Xulfiqar Yes dear, that my point that Yota comes with 21mm unless if its sedan. So I want to install 21mm lugs. Lets see how it goes.

The head size is not relevant here, aftermarket lugs have 19mm head.

What matters is the correct lug type for your wheel, otherwise it may fall off.

Btw, even sedans have 21mm head, toyota used 21mm as its same size as larger spark plugs, this is why older toyota like corona etc used to come with 2pc lug wrench with deep socket, the socket was also used on spark plugs

Smaller one is 19 vs 21mm. I need to check if original rims of LJ78 have room for this extended portion of the lug.

The difference between them is what centers the rim to the hub, Do not use taper seat (top) on flat faced lug hole wheels or vice versa.

btw - toyota sell original taper seat lugs with 21mm head too - the one with 19mm head is usually a ford item. If they are good aftermarket they say M19 on one facet and 3/4 on another. (telling the socket size, 19mm can be swapped with a 3/4 inch socket too - just like 21mm can be swapped with 13/16)

I unmounted old 19mm lugs and replaced them with 21mm. I did this job by unmounting 19mm one by one and haven't used Jack for the job.

Sadly these 21ers doesn't fit due to extension. I dont know if I have to lift vehicle and unmount all 19mm together so that rim sets free and move to let extension of 21mm to settle in.

make sure the wheels have the correct corresponding seat for the lugnut - do not use flat washer lugs with taper seat wheels - You may die
