Oil Change interval in Pakistan is a SCAM

This ''2 number petrol, 2 number oil' horse has been beaten for more than a decade in these forums.

If such was the case, no car in Pakistan would have been able to function past 20k km or so.

obv no one sell 100% 2 Lumber Oil , but there is always impurity in them, mosly petrol pump add Irani oil which is not even good.

oil filters are of lower quality in Pakistan.
Due to hotter conditions, oil is exposed to more heat, thus more thermal decomposition.
Fuel quality is horrible in Pakistan. Some fuel may enter the oil system via the cylinder walls. The fuel contaminates the oil and may cause it to turn acidic.
Oil's processed in Pakistan are likely of subpar quality.

Guard filters are oe quality and are factory equipment on corolla etc. So thats good.

The fuel qualities are published by pso and other energy cos. So thats ok too.

The lube oils available are licensed and follow certain criteria (cos. Like fuchs, bp, shell, total etc sell their oil stock) which is perfectly acceptable too.

Pakistani weather is not terrible or crazy hot either.

So which of these are you trying to counter?

Real failure reasons are gutka/menpoori morons and equally stupid owners not following operational specification or even repair spec, every single convo ends with

Mota haail
Thraatal paalish
Meff sensarr ki champi
Null ka paani radiator mein
Overcooled engine (no thermostat and direct fan)

All of the above kills lube oil and engines very quick.

When I lived in Pakistan, i bought lube oils from a caltex jobber in Karachi, straight from their drums.

Never had a single complaint, i even used to buy coolant concentrate from similar drums.

It took me just a few minutes to discover this jobber as i used an age old technique. Just call the brand owner and ask for address of where to buy.

I have been using Shell Helix Ultra in my Mercedes E240 with a drain interval of 15000km with fleece filter. For my Landrover RRS TDV8 I use Shell Helix HX7 5w30 and change oil every 10000km. I have never had any problem with my LC100 which has been in the family for over 20years with a drain interval of 10000km. This particular vehicle has over 280k km on the meter and still in its original engine. I agree with you recommended oil change interval here in Pakistan is a scam.

Different cars take different change intervals.

Example
Oldschool aircooled vw beetle has api sc oil sae 30/40 requirement with 3000 kms change

That car took 2.3 litres oil and had no oil filter and was specced for fuel rating from 75 to 85 octane in some regions.

Doesnt mean that it was wrong.

Similarly.

Heavy trucks with 80,000 kms oil change requirement is not wrong either.

Problem is that when common people become wannabee injeniurr and look at oil as a single component material.

Interestingly, the owner's manual of the local Khyber used to recommend a 6000 km interval back in the 90's (10w-30 to 20w50).

This is the screenshot of Khyber's manual. It recommends 5000 km interval.

I have the local, Pakistani owner's manual saved somewhere; I recall it had the 6k km interval.

It also had some other interesting information, such as speed range for each gear; 5th gear can be engaged from 35 km/h, provided the ignition timing is stock.

oh yes -

I know of one poor soul who was in the "grease tasting" mindset, - said that if I eat a spoon of bearing grease and dont get diarhea its bad grease.

So I sent a freind of mine a tube of rubber grease which is made with castor oil mixed with silica dust to give it to this werido.

you know what castor oil does to your gut - Im sure.

The results were very interesting.

Let me say that Shell Helix HX7 is a semi synthetic oil. Use Shell ultra series . They are full or 100% synthetic. Now u might think that semi synthetic oil has 50% mineral and 50% synthetic blend . No ur wrong . In most cases it can be as high as 10-20%. Technically 1% of synthetic blend in a mineral oil will make it semi synthetic which you are changing in the intervals of full synthetic. Also how is Land Rover even going ? Iv heard they are very unreliable.

Khyber is an old engine and synthetic oils werent a thing back then. But still before many people changed mineral oil at the intervals of 2500-3000 km
Edit: Mineral or conventional or non synthetic oil can go upto 5000km where as full synthetics go upto double

As I quoted before

Bro like suzuki celerio, its recommended interval in india and Thailand is 10k kms/6 months in normal conditions and 7500 in case of severe conditions (using fully synthetic 0w20)But in pak cultus recommended interval is 3 months/5000kms

The oil recommended for cultus in pakistan is suzuki semi synthetic 5w30 or 10w40 (total)
So that's why OCI is 5k
Recommended oil for celerio worldwide is fully synthetic 0w20 and 5w30 and interval is 10k
5k interval is not for fully synthetic..

Dont buy Local Oils such as Toyotas, Hondas, Shell, Caltex, Zic, Rimula. because the all oils are manufactured in Pakistan and they are very pathetic. You will watch your self what they will do after 3000 kms . The Color and viscosity drops like hel. Please buy Liqui Moli from Some importer as they have their own dealers ships and u will watch ur self the oil wil run more then 12000kms . I my self use this oil and it runs amazing. The local Mechanics recomend you oil change because they check viscosity and color which is ofcourse changed due to local manufacturing so they recomend you early change. Also they so called local Synthetic oil of Toyota runs only 5000 kms which is a doubt on its quality. So just use German technology

Well i did oil changes beyond 5000km so far didnt have problems with oil losing viscosity. I use Total quartz 5w30 full synthetic.
Do you have any evidence or at least a story to support this ?
