The newly overhauled engine oil consumption is concerned with:
- The selection of original parts.
- Cylinder boring and honing process. A fine crisis crosshatch pattern is preferred. The recommended piston to cylinder clearance at room temperature is always required. Never push the piston into the cylinder to observe the clearance, which damages the piston skirt, but rather use a cylinder bore gauge and micrometer to check the piston to cylinder clearance. The Passo piston to cylinder clearance is around 0.045 to 0.050mm at room temperature.
- Cylinder head machining. It is a dire requirement that the proper valve to seat mating thickness is maintained. The required thickness is about 1/16 in or 1.55 to 1.60mm. The next important job is to maintain a valve to guide clearance. Too much clearance and worn valve seals will consume engine oil. Always check the cylinder and head surfaces for warpage. If found, surface grind the both.
- Excessive main and big-end bearings clearance will also promote oil consumption.
- Always follow the sequential torque order for tightening the main, big ends caps, and cylinder head bolts.
- Cleanliness throughout the job is the key to success.
These are some of the basic things which are to be considered during the engine overhaul process.

is there any issue at throttling? does car bog down at sudden throttle ? what about fuel consumption

Throttle Body does not need any bathing washing cleaning. there is hardly anything to clean. The stepper motor is sealed and if there is any seepage of moisture causing rust, only replacement will solve the issue.

Drive by wire Throttle Position Sensor can be checked with DMM., if there is any moisture in connectors clean it with contact cleaner & check,

I got plugs etc change and some sensors cleaning done today from jameel autos, after scanning this error had popped up
Irshad told me to leave it but now it makes sense the reason why i went for tuning in the first place was the lag in acceleration and sluggish response. Fuel average is perfect, 15-16 km/l with ac karachi city

man, having kept 2016 vitz that i imported in 2020, i never got above 12 kmpl in city. Lol i didn't get more than 15 in my 660cc Daihatsu move. I wonder how people get such average with the traffic congestion in karachi. My passo a.t.m is doing around 11 kmpl. All readings are with ac.

I also discussed about the fuel average with Irshad, 11-12 with ac seemed fine to him since everything is fine in the car and there's nothing much we can do to improve it. Guess it just depends on the driving condition. Mine does 18+ on highway btw.

what i have experienced is that the major factor contributing to fuel avg in 1KR is the engine oil. It runs lightest on 0w20 but you have to bear the engine sound. even irshad was impressed with the fuel avg.

I had the same spider model too, hated the sound of it with 0w20 but then realized that it was the cvt that was making the horrendous sound. Have the same engine in my passo mated with 4 speed auto, its quiet as hell lol/

10 to 12 in city with AC is perfectly fine on 1kr.

Depends on traffic, roads n driving style too.

@rajaatta what's your say on the new compression readings? are the wet readings ok?

170 is ideal reading and donot perform wet reading on a newly built engine it won't help in a proper diagnosis way as the technician has recently built this engine by his bare hands how come the compression fails at this stage so a new lesson never perform wet compression on new engines.

The start compression from first start is around 150 psi and then it raises as the rings seat up in the cylinder bore.
Normal value for 1kr in a newly built engine is around 170 175 psi any thing below leads to the diagnosis of the vehicle is not pushed harder which in result looses the compression.
Any thing above 175 psi indicates that a lot of carbon deposits are forming up in the combustion chamber and needs attention.

Your engine is healthy now drive it for 5000 kms and then after ward keep an eye on the compression values every after 10000 kms.
And for God sake donot perform the wet compression test on this builded engine again.
