I didnt send Muntazir to see the car.....we were at the classic car get together in Islamabad at the end of our rally. I met Muqeem sb. there and he showed me his car...whcih indeed is a magnificent specimen. My denter and painter were there with me so I showed them the car.....that was it.

pics taken during denting work would be appreciated.

the guy supporting a beard and in white shalwar kameez was actually a begger...I was removing rust from the underbody with a wire brush on a grinder....he was pestering me so I told him to clean the rust from one small panel and I 'll pay you Rs.50/-. He did and he was promptly paid

A 47 split found in Gujranwala complete with pre-partition registeration documents etc. I have asked Rehan to take pictures and e-mail. Stay tuned.

why wouldnt I be happy? more the merrier. Looks like my car will have an elder sister . But seeing is believing.....last week a friend called that a sply has been discovered in Karachi and that he will be bringing the owner to my house....I said show me the car first or the pics.....still waiting.

Quite a few split windows must have come to Pakistan and it would be nice to discover as many as possible.

Salams,

  As always, it was great to meet you today. 

  Saw the bug today in person....the finish on that rear fender is *amazing* to say the least. This man has magic in his hands, money well spent. At this rate, the paint job shall require a very minimum amount of filler....a skim here and there only :* 

 I was thinking aloud in front of Amin sb who was accompanying me that this bug has the extreme good luck of being owned by Mohsin bhai who is showering unconditional love on it to bring it to its former glory.

 The exciting 47 split lead given above seems plausible. I think it must be followed actively. Who knows what we unearth??

thank you buddy....your visits and feedback are always fruitful and inspiring. The rear end of the car was really in bad shape as previous denting efforts by the previous owners had destroyed the actual curves and shape of the fenders and rear apron. Now its back into shape. By end of next week the body should be ready to be brought home and put on stands for paint work to start. Muntazir then will work on the chassis...once done it will go to the mechanic for putting back all dismantles suspension, engine, gear, brakes etc. Once the chassis is up and running perfect, it will receive major attention from the painters to get it ready to receive the body.

Still a looong way to go. Thanks for the tit bits....keep 'em coming
