Looks like one of those things in star wars...
So let's see how it does with my reference studio monitors.

Let's get this party started

All boosters are set to fire sir...

The measurements

Listening impressions: Huge difference in imaging and overall smoothness.

Now usually people order the UMIK-1 from their website. The problem with that is that the microphone comes with a on-axis calibration file and as we know car speakers aren't listened to on-axis hence to tackle this problem the microphone was calibrated by a sound engineer with a certified reference microphone, this does not only ensure extremely accurate calibration but the necessary 45 degree and 90 degree calibration files as microphones usually exhibit a roll off after 6khz as they get more and more directional. More light or should i say sunlight has been shed on this on home theater shack forums and this is exactly why i didn't go with a normal UMIK-1.

Similar to the Dayton Dayton UMM-6 microphone, MiniDSP UMIK-1 microphones have a USB output so they can be used with PC's and Mac's without need of an external phantom power or USB/Firewire interface. The UMIK-1 appears as an audio input device available for use in many audio measurement software programs. The stock units come with on-axis calibration curves.
We provide the following value-added services:
We provide calibration files (.FRD format) on a USB thumbdrive for use in many popular audio measurement programs. Our cal files range from 5 Hz to 25 kHz to encompass the low bass and high treble regions that many audiophiles, professionals and home theater aficionados require.
Our measurement methodology compares favorably with the results generated by a NVLAP NIST-traceable laboratory so you can be confident that your data are reliable and are representative of the UMIK-1's individual performance.
As with our other calibrated microphone products, each UMIK-1 microphone is calibrated against an ANSI-certified reference microphone. Each microphone will be shipped with the following:
MiniDSP UMIK-1 microphone with mini-tripod, case, USB cable, and microphone clip
Microphone characterization report
Frequency response curves at 0?, 45? and 90? angles of incidence
USB thumbdrive with frequency response data (.FRD format)
Value addition indeed! , an instrument is only useful when what it measures is precise. Accuracy without precision is nothing.

Thanks to G.Holey for calibrating my microphone [emoji14]
Here's the final tune as seen on august 13th 2015, everything in phase with filters applied on room EQ wizard which is extremely popular for tuning purposes within the home and car domain.
Time alignment check, acoustical phase check, acoustical slopes check, filters check, sunshine check. [emoji14]

Summing up the results in one sentence?
Shine on you crazy diamond.
