Hi

I own 2006 1.3 2wd..
a couple of queries.. advice would be apprieciated.

1. Ive got 185 R15's put in less than 3 months .. brake shoes are new and the mech says that the discs and drums are in good condition and I had alignment dont recently.Most Belta owners will testify to the cars excellent turning circle but lately the car has gained a tendency to drift a lot on sharp turns and even with ABS refuses to go anywhere but straight.
   Is this a common problem or am I looking at something sinister like a damaged suspension component?

2. The CVT's S mode does well till around 130.. infact I regularly use to embarass both City and Corolla Gli drivers.. however around that figure of 130-140 it just goes static and makes a lot of noise for sometime before it starts moving again.
   Is this normal or do I need to get a tuneup/scanner check? I did not get the gearbox oil changed.. does this take the usual Toyota 4 quart fluid as my Platz used to or something else?

i've already mentioned they are denso iridium & my belta is 1.0L.
The transmission oil i put in was CVT fluid as you mentioned
is there really a 4WD (4 wheel drive) variant in Belta..????

also confirm that brake shoe/pads of belta & Vitz are same..??? i would prefer to buy new ones after taking price from both market & toyota dealership as brakes are serious & shouldnt be messed with

What are the model numbers of the spark plugs you've bought? What variant is your Belta is it the 1.0L or the 1.3L?

I can't say anything about the transmission oil, if your Belta is the 4WD variant then the transmission oil you have added is fine because the 4WD Belta comes with the common 4-speed automatic transmission used in a majority of Toyota sedan.

If you're Belta has the CVT gearbox then you have made a mistake. You should have added Toyota Geniune CVT fluid TC it comes in a 4L canister.

I haven't replaced the brakes, brake shoes or brake pads yet on my Belta yet. You could probably get a complete brake setup (front & rear) from a half-cut or whole scrapped Belta or Vitz in Shershah or maybe even Bilal Gunj.

Brake pads aren't expensive, OEM ones cost 3,500rs (they consist of 2 pairs, both used for the front ofcourse)

Hi, welcome to the Belta owners/fan club. I would really appreciate it if you could enlighten us with more details of your Belta and if possible please post pictures of it as well.

Well, that should not being happening. You say you have 185 R15's which isn't that big of a profile especially for the 1.3L. While getting the alignment done did you get the tires balanced as well? Get all four wheels balanced and see if that might solve your problem. It can't be anything major, unless if you have a CNG kit installed and/or spacers.

The 'S' mode is used for better acceleration and high RPM gear shifts. It should not go static or stop at any moment while accelerating at such high speeds. Have you replaced the spark plugs or anything else since you've bought it?

No, the Platz has a 4-speed automatic transmission whereas the Belta has a Super CVT-i gearbox. Only use Toyota Genuine CVT Fluid TC it comes in a 4L canister, please don't use anything other than that (picture of the canister attached below).

P.S: What is the current mileage on your Belta?

Yes, their is really a 4WD variant. It comes with the 2NZ-FE 1.3L engine paired to a conventional Toyota 4-speed automatic transmission with Super ECT and Gate Shifter.

Yes the brake discs, pads and shoes of the Toyota Belta (KSP-92, SCP-92 and NCP-96) and the Toyota Vitz (KSP-90, SCP-90 and NCP-91) are all the same.

Hmm, the problem could be with the ball joints or the tie rod ends get them checked.

Got the engine oil and engine oil filter replaced today, as well as the air filter. Prices are mentioned as follows:

• Engine oil, Shell Helix Ultra 5W-40 4L canister: 3,500rs (no charges for the oil replacement as I got the engine oil from Shell)

• Engine oil filter OEM Toyota: 900rs

• Air filter OEM Toyota: 800rs

So, yesterday I was busy with the Belta. Got the engine oil, engine oil filter and air filter replaced. I always wondered where the cabin air filter in the Belta was located?

I didn't bother taking out the glove box before because I thought I would either break something or I won't be able to fix it back properly. Then I thought I should find it now or never.

I kept my fear aside and started to locate the filter. I did not get a new cabin air filter because no one has the OEM one. However, the Malaysian one is available for around 1000rs but I don't want any non-OEM part to go into my car.

Now here you go with the picture tutorial:

The glove box, the filter is located right behind it. To access it we will have to take the glove box out.

Now, there are two clips at the bottom of the glove box one on the right side and one on the left. The glove box slides into them, you will have to tug a little to move them out of place.

On your left side there is a plastic nose clip which holds a black plastic arm which is controlled by a small hydraulic shock which opens up the glove box itself once you lift the lever up, just pinch the nose in order release the arm from the clip. You will have to open the door as the space is not enough to fit your hand unless you are really skinny.

There you go, the arm is out of the clip.

Move the glove box a little to both sides, it'll loosen up take it out and put it aside.

Voila! This is what it looks like behind the glove box.

You will have to pinch this clip too in order for the flap to open. Once you have pinched it it'll open up like so.

Now that the flap is open you could see the very dirty cabin air filter sitting inside it's housing.

This is what is looks like when you take the cabin air filter out of it's housing, notice the small fan that sends air into the cabin.

And here we have the cabin air filter, very dirty. The material is quite flexible, too bad I couldn't find an OEM filter.

An important update about my belta, it has arrived to lahore (ALHAMDULILLAH), 2ndly i was thinking (infact me and my fried both) it to 2006 model, i don't know where he had read that :), it is 2007 Model.
I'll be going to lhr to drive it here to isb, INSHA'ALLAH
because of some mishaps it will cost me around 11Lacs, but looking at the condition and model, i think it's better in the condition from the ones we buy here in around 11.5Lacs

Al-Hamd Autos, Main Gizri Boulevard. They have almost all the OEM parts for the Belta. The prices are pretty reasonable as well.

yaar look at toyota motors. I bought oil filter for Rs. 1050 and air filter for 1850 from toyota motors. They are totally same but a hell of price diff.

secondly can anybody suggest me sm good workshop here in lahore. i feel sm noise in cars right wheel and steering while moving on rough and bumpy roads.

They rip you off big time. I have never gone to Toyota and never will. Here, I have compared the prices from where I bought the filters and from where you have bought the filters.

Me: Oil filter: 900, Air filter: 800 = Total: 1700rs

You: Oil filter: 1050, Air filter: 1850 = Total: 2900rs

There you go, that's a total difference of 1200rs!

Today I received my Belta Drove it to Isb from Lahore, filled the tank with petrol worth 4,000Rs (approx 45 Ltrs), the indicator was showing Full (All Bars), it is now reduced to half and i have driven 375 Kms so far
Let's see how long it lasts.
Will the post the picx of the car once i start using it (i.e. i get my Liana Sold) and get it cleaned.
Sadly during the shipping it got 2,3 dents :S
