My friend's Passo 2011 Model windscreen has a crack. Mechanic suggests to keep it as this is genuine screen. Can someone please suggest if it is better to replace this one and how much it will cost to get a genuine screen of 2011 model?

I just bought a boon 2007. I am facing an issue since I bought it and travelled to my home. Almost done 13 km on ac at 12 am and the car engine becomes hot. The HF indicator doesnt turn on but physically the engine seems hot and the bonnet as well. Today, I drove around 20 km with ac on, faced the same issue. Turned off the car and switched it back on, the HF indicator turned red and after starting self, the light went off but the engine was yet hot, so was the bonnet. Got the radiator serviced today with coolant and still facing this issue. Fan is auto, thermostat valve is inside. Shall i get rid of thermostat valve and switch the fan to manual? Or how to resolve it? Help please.

No need to change anything. Is your car running in high traffic? Passo engine becomes HOT with AC if its running in traffic congestions.

I just driven 4 kms toiday with ac, in the morning, when I turned on the switch, the CF sign was showing (car was cold) but after driving 4kms, I put my hand on the bonnet, was extremely hot, even I could smell something burning. As if oil was burning. Turned off the car. Turned the switch back ON, HF sign (red light) appeared but just after taking the self, it went OFF. besides, I took off the oil cap on engine and noticed white smoke coming. But in te morning when I start the car, silencer drops water. Is the smoke coming out because of over heating or is it the ring pistons?

Where about karachi do you live ? Check your Radiator Fan If its not working just start the car open the bonnet leave it check it for 2-3 min check if your fan is running or not - if it doesnt work for 2-3 mins Turn on the A/C it should start the fan- If fan starts working on AC and doesn't work without AC when than your Temperature Sensor Having some problem its not sending Temperature to ECU to start fan you might need to check the Sensor or ECU.

I live in Model Colony, next to airport. I did start it on idle mode, the fan initially starts after 11-12 mins and then starts within 2-3 mins for nearly 20 seconds and goes off. Did this without AC. With Ac it keeps on running and starts instantly. So, don't think the fan is messing it up. I reckon the smoke coming out from the engine is messing up the scenario. Is the passo/boon engine silent in sound or makes slight sound? I think I need to have the ring pistons replaced but what I don't understand is the engine drops water through silencer. No smoke at all from the silencer. Does anyone know any good mechanic in Karachi and any good parts shop for it? Or can I use kabuli parts from shershah? Appreciate your help. Thank you.

Its very normal for white smoke to come out of oil filter cap when opened after running car. You are just getting too sketchy about it. I have driven my passo last 5 years. At times its engine becomes so hot in traffic congestions with AC that you can't even touch the lock system to open the bonnet. This is all normal - no need to go to any mechanics or anything.

I filled around 2 litre and the gauge showing its perfect. Haven't driven since then because I feel its consuming the oil, besides its getting hot and I reckon the ring pistons are the reason.

What oil grade are you using? Try using thicker oil

Is white smoke also coming from silencer? And you didn't mention about reducing oil earlier. If its reducing oil, then something is wrong with the engine. Maybe a gasket leak.

A little bit of white smoke comes from heated engine if you open oil lid. I was talking about that part.

The silencer doesnt throw any smoke at all but water. That is the reason I am confused. I am gonna drive 100-200 kms and see if it still consumes the oil. But to me, car seems very hot if idling or being driven on a jammed road. Yesternight, driven around 18 km with ac on, around 12 am. Roads were clear, stopped and checked the bonnet, wasn't hot at all. Was normal. Where do you guys take the car for proper inspection in karachi besides toyota showroom? Thanks.

I have been using a non-CVT passo for few years now and yes it does get hot in traffic jams. the reason i can understand is because the cooling system/ AC condenser is not designed for PK hence it is generally running on higher than normal temperatures. someone mentioned about Japan exporting to gulf, yes it is the same car with same specs except for cooling system. I have owned a yaris in 3 different countries and all had different cooling system rest of the specs like 1KR or 2NS were more or less same.
coming back to passo, dont mess with any company specs just service the cooling system, if too many radiator fins are broken or blocked its better to change it with a kabli radiator (costs around 3000PKR) and fill it up with toyota coolant (black container). if u try to remove the valve the engine will increase in terms of vibration and may also increase wear and tear. one solution is to upgrade the cooling system itself but I havent been able to find a better radiator that would fit so far so i am going along with available specs. worst case senario if you end up destroying your engine just replace it with kablee (18000 PKR) but it will take 2-3 years for your car to get to the stage where the existing engine becomes useless. Dont waste money on repairing the engine JDM are difficult to fix by local mechanics.
coming to the oil consuming issue is a bit alarming, any car reducing any amount of oil is first sign of fault, when u bought the car it is possible it was running on some kind of smoke reducing agent (smoke treatment) hence you were unable to find a fault. but a 2 liters top up of oil is unacceptable. throwing water is not always a good sign since it can be due to condensation under high compression (good) or water head gasket leakage (bad) the later can be identified by presence of oil residue in coolant. It is possible that the engine may have overheated in the past causing the gasket to leak hence resulting in oil reduction now. it would be better if you get it checked by a good technician before it causes a problem. ask the mechanic to perform a compression test on all three pistons, check if the plugs have oil fouling as well. if yes than try using a thicker grade oil as that is the only solution unless you go for engine replacement.

This more looks like a radiator issue to me. Took this to my mechanic, he said get a kabuli radiator... double nali wala.its jaali isnt exhausting the air at all. Referred me to a radiator wala, he said the same. My mechanic said... oil burn kar rhi ha due to over heating. Noticed today, it is consuming the coolant.. driven about 150 km since I filled up the oil to its level, since then it hasn't consumed oil at all. Neither the oil looks mixed up with water. So, to me it looks ok engine wise. I reckon it is the radiator issue. Where do I get one for 3000 pkr? Because the radiator guy said 5500 ka radiator dalega.. double nali wala

Besides, I got radiator serviced but used Nasa coolant. Toyota is better? I will consider that with the new radiator I am going to get today.
