Not a good idea professionally. Fiddling with the OEM air fuel mixture through diagnostic tool.... no go area..... 1000cc 1KR or every other must have an AC over load trip relay which activates while overtaking / while accelerating hard during ascend. Imo that relay is not functioning. More over every car 1300 cc or below needs AC off for steep climbing .....

I am not sure if jdm's would let us fiddle with fuel mixture since it will just reset back everytime ecu is reset. but yes will definitely contact @rajaatta for advise. I also believe it has somthing to do with non-cvt transmission since i never had this problem with belta even though it weighs a ton more than passo.

There is almost 16 to 22 % more power loss in Auto Trany as compare to CVT. If the power steering is hydraulic, add 5-8% more power loss...

i agree, also i think even if i change the mixture ratio it will just reset back after few kms. unless i do a complete reflash with new tables which wont be a good idea. Although i can experiment with an extra ecu cuz i think they wont be that expensive for passo.

funny thing, it does have some kind of protection that cuts the ac off during start and stop on a signal or heavy traffic but not on hill climb for some reason. do u think it is possible that the engine load sensor is out of calibration or is it because i changed the ac compressor and the new compressor doesnt respond to the system as well as it should

hmmm... that is not good because i dont think i can mate a cvt tranny with my model, plus it would be an expensive thing to do.

i guess i should just stick to the current routine i.e. tell all my friends to get out and push the car when we get to hill climb

Normally There are 02 sensors which are part of compressor.

1. As you said load sensor.
2. Temp sensor.

If you swapped it with Kabuli Compressor than i doubt ............ Usually the Ustaad bypasses those safety relays due to which its trip function disables ...... These sensors are factory caliberated which cannot be caliberated later after installation..... These are integral part of compressor coil for its over heat safety in both condition.

hmm.... but the load sensor is not connected to compressor it is built into the engine so the ac technician cant mess with it.

BHAIIII! WE ARE TALKING ABOUT YOUR AC ISSUE.

The OEM AC Compressor of your PASSO had over load and over temperature tripping relays which in this Kabuli DUET Compressor already bypassed by the USTAAD JI thats why it goes on working without tripping and car remains heavy all the time with the feeling of more chilled cooling. Eventually this compressor coil will over heat too and it will die eventually.

Mark my words there is no problem with your car.... The problem is wrong compressor you have installed mistakenly. (The compressor is not heavy, rather its relay is also bypassed so that it goes on working without thermostat function)

I got what u said thats why i changed my response :P. you wrote 02 and i thought u meant oxygen.

The load sensor is a part of engine management no? because i dont see any other sensor in my ac system there are only two pressure sensors one on compressor and one near the eye after condenser. also i do see the ac tripping during start stops but not when going uphill.

hmm.... that could be the reason y it is not responding to the engine load. does anyone know ecu expert in twin cities. i am thinking of calibrating my load sensor values

Again brother you are thinking and going in wrong direction.... there is no load sensor on the engine..... when you accelerate the car hard the compressor back pressure goes to a limit where it trips the compressor... same way compressor over temp relay works..... load and temp sensor relays are part of compressor electromagnetic coil.

i think there is some issue in ur car then. get it checked. if you have ever been to GB u would see there are a lot of ncp vitz and they climb the mountain roads singing

had there been any issue with vitz (1krFe) in mountains then vitz would not have been there in that large number.

Which year model / trim of passo has CVT and which one hasn’t?

As per my info it was introduced with 2nd Gen had it which started in 09 or 10.

Kindly note that all trims in the same model years always have the same automatic gearbox technology in Passo & almost all other small cars in Japanese Brands.
