Keeping the project cars streak alive since 2016, I'm back with another interesting, fun yet AFFORDABLE project.
The legendary Suzuki Khyber a.k.a Suzuki Swift MK1 a.k.a Holden Barina a.k.a Chevrolet Sprint a.k.a Pontiac Firefly. Introduced as Suzuki Swift globally in 1983 at the 25th Tokyo Motor Show, this generation was around for over a decade and was sold under different badges thanks to the alliance between Suzuki and GM. I've always wanted a 2 door CLUB CULTUS or Suzuki Forsa or Suzuki Swift MK1, whatever you call it, I've always admired these 2 door hatches from Suzuki, it's always been on my list but sadly, there aren't many around for sale and the ones that are?
THEY'RE DEMANDING A FORTUNE FOR THOSE CRACKED COOKIES

Moving on, I found myself a Suzuki Khyber and I thought? I SHOULD BUY IT
Why? Well!

Getting the dashboadd redone by a local interior reupholster shop wasn't an option because the dashboard sucked.
The gauge cluster doesn't works, the air vents were broken and the lights/wiper controller module was fixed using apexi. The only solution to this problem was to replace the entire dashboard, so I went to Bilal Gunj and after 3 hours of hunting down parts for my Khyber, I came to the following points.

1. It's useless to buy a bolt-on dashboard from the same model because barely anyone's got a clean dash but even the one's that suck are being sold for 30-35k

2. The shape of his dashboard is decent but still, too outdated, so I'd consider something modern, which means it will obviously require alterations.

So I bought this
Suzuki Swift MK2's dashboard in pristine condition with all these amazing goodies it's loaded with.

1. A MPH to KM/H speedometer cluster with RPM
2. Loads of extra switches for rear wiper, rear sprayer, fog lights, retractable side mirrors and the motorized headlamps.
3. The original clock
4. Original dashboard speakers are still inside and I'm really hoping that they'll work
5. The shop keeper threw in the original center console with the gear knob and the gear boot lever so well? Nothing's missing, it also came with the original Suzuki CD player from the factory which I've preserved for nothing

Thats a one clean dashboard and still u r saying it is not clean.
your idea is to install cultus dashbaord instead of khyber....hmmmm.......
i guess it will take alot of adjsutment. make sure the dash doesnt mingles with the window winders in the doors.

plus the seating position and the view of the dash should be considered.

but let see everything is posible.

Btw no, it wasn't marketed as total genuine but the car is actually buy and drive if we consider how perfect it mechanically is. It barely requires replacement of any mechanical parts except that I'll obviously get everything checked to make sure it doesn't bugs. As for now, the car is half self start, the suspension is great as well.

Brought the car at the workshop to get the work started and here are some additional pictures to demonstrate the current state of the car in detail.

Disassembled the dashboard, barely took 15 mins and it was out.

The frame looks fine, although I'm planning to get the chassis reinforced, just in case I swap the engine since it sure is mechanically fine, but too slow for me, takes ages to hit 120

Engine swap is must. Don’t expect any kind of power or torque from this poor motor. It doesnt have those words in its vocabulary

@umairjamil6 I'm definitely thinking of swapping the G10 but I'm not sure which one to go for, either the M13 or M16, or G13 or G16. Confused between these, the engine prices are rising day by day, I wish I could get my hands on a 4EFTE for this

There is one for sale on olx. Seen it's add recently. 160k i think. Asking too much for local engine though.
Prefer m16 or m13. M series is new and light. Will perform better then G series.

Went to the workshop today and the dashboard was finally fitted, sitting all tight and steady. It didn't require any major alterations, just required some time to position it properly to avoid any instabilities or noises. It still requires some final adjustments before they finally bolt it with the frame. The center console won't fit anymore as I've changed the car's engine and this center console won't fit the new transmission setup.

Yes, it's a Khyber

No issues with the door gaps either.
