That is quite a hot & passionate discussion, yet all of it is pointed towards wrong direction (as its comparison between CBU values in GCC region and CKD in Pakistan), let’s take example of couple of Toyota vehicles, Toyota Coaster (4th Gen) & Toyota Land Cruiser 200, both of which are manufactured nowhere else but in Japan,
Lowest Grade Coaster LX is priced 6,247,800 Yen (this price includes 8% consumption tax included) link for which is as under (use Google chrome to translate it to English)
http://toyota.jp/coaster/grade/
Most Expensive grade Land Cruiser 200 (ZX) is priced 6,825,600 Yen (8% consumption tax included) link for which is given below,

Now both of aforementioned prices are retail price in Japanese Yen, which is advertised and will be honored by dealership in Osaka Toyopet.
Right now open market forex rates per Forex can be checked from link below,
http://www.forex.pk/open_market_rates.asp
1 Yen = 93 Paisa Pak Rs
Japanese price for Toyota Coaster converted in Rs = PKR 5,810,454
Japanese price for Toyota Land Cruiser converted in Rs = PKR 6,347,808
Now both of these vechicles are CBU units and available with Indus motors as well, price for Toyota Coaster is as under,
Coaster High Roof 30 Seater F/L = PKR 8,249,000 (This price is inclusive of GST 17% and exlusive of Withholding tax) web link is given below

Land Cruiser 200 VX = PKR 24,100,000

Now why did I chose these two vehicles, because both of them are made in Japan, both are sold in Pakistan and Japan, their retail prices are easily available, so difference on Japanese prices are addition of Freight + Insurance + Custom duty, so hopefully you guys would have come to bit of conclusion, that not all of fault lies with Indus Motors, Its our Govt which has created this protectionist, walled garden approach, where we are keeping Japanese manufacturers close to our bosoms and protecting from competition primarily against themselves, its Govt of Pakistan who have created this situation which has allowed local manufacturers to have their own niches, to have exclusivity and no competition in their chosen segments, situation is like Cosa Nostra, they have a beautiful thing going on, so the manufacturers have every right to exploit the situation.
Pakwheels have also published articles where custom duties on vehicles are discussed.
