Hope you're all doing good,
For the members who have always kept an eye on my projects, you guys already know how I'm playing around with cars, rescuing them for good tbh
But this time? I bought a car for my friend's friend, as his first car, he was looking for a car under 300k and honestly, I couldn't find him anything better than this Khyber considering his requirements regarding the car and his reservations regarding his garage space.

So this specific car is a Suzuki Khyber 1996
The car had AC from the factory but we didn't get it along from the seller. Luckily, all the documents were complete, lahore regd with lifetime token tax paid and the car appeared to be in a good nick, not to forget, the car that we're talking about is a 27 year old Suzuki, so I didn't set my expectations high. My friend told me that the car should be good enough to take him from point A to point B and later, when his friend will have enough money, he'll get it restored, so we locked the deal and bought her home. The car was bought for 280k in the first quarter of 2023. The exterior looked fine, there were traces of rust but nothing major, the interior? Well, luckily this car didn't have a cracked dashboard and since the dashboard's colour was faded, the owner didn't get it wrapped in those CF vinyls at the local shops, instead, he left it as it is which was a win win situation for me, because kabli Khyber dashboards are really expensive and I don't think that my friend here would be willing to get a new dashboard for 50k, itna pagal sirf main khud hi hoon

THE PLOT TWIST
I told you guys about how I got this car for my friend's friend but sadly, he was in need of urgent cash so he had to sell the car, I posted the car for sale on pakwheels to help him sell it, but my friend bought it for himself and well? Here it was, at my place, to head to the workshop and get the work started.

In Karachi, this condition khyber is usually priced between 180,000 to 200,000 rupees at most. However, Lahore is a different story; cars there tend to carry a higher price tag, and the Khyber is no exception.

My wife's cousin bought an ALL GENUINE SUZUKI KHYBER, totally genuine, not a single piece was showered and it was only driven 68K, the interior was amazing, everything was working and he sold it for 590k.

So yes, the market in Lahore is different when it comes to cars

WE'RE AT THE WORKSHOP AND THE WORK? BEGINS!
After bringing the car to the workshop, the next day, we started inspecting the car for more rust, cracks and putty, so that we know which parts can be repaired and which parts require a replacement.

THE ENGINE & THE ENGINE BAY
No matter what the car looks like from inside & out, the main thing is always the motor that keeps it running on the road, sadly? This car's engine was MAYBE overhauled or wasn't fixed properly, due to which the engine had a rattling noise, which we figured out when we took the engine out and disassembled it. But for now?

METAL vs BONDO
So, just took these pictures to demonstrate the level of our painter awaam's love for putty/bondo, I don't get the reason they apply layers of putty over metal surfaces that are already weak and the bondo, again, sucks the life that's left in those panels, therefore? We concluded that once we're done stripping, we're going to replace the rear quarter panels.

CRACKS, BREAKAGES AND RUST!
This car is more of those mystery boxes, the deeper you go the more you get, except, in this particular case, we were getting SHOCKS instead of SURPRISES, but I was still surprised to see this car still on the road, take a look

how in the world this body will have strength. the body wont bear the torch heat and then you will be needing bars to handle the body flex

The issue is with pakwheels I guess
I've been uploading the pictures in their original resolution to avoid them from getting compressed

MECHANICAL - THE ENGINE
This specific car came with the original G10/F10 engine, the very lousy, underpowered, 3 cyl 1.0L that merely produces 42HP as per the books, but since my friend was out of budget for a bigger or better swap, we only had the option to overhaul the engine, but Allah had other plans for my friend, when we took out the engine and disassembled it, the crank was broken, the engine was already overhauled and the head wasn't in much of a good shape as well, which lead to the conclusion that this engine cannot be overhauled again, therefore, the next option we had was definitely TO SWAP ANOTHER MOTOR IN IT

NEW PARTS!!
You guys can easily judge from the pictures above that the parts of this car were beyond repairable, so I obv had to get brand new door sheets, rear quarter panels, floor panels and pillars for the car, this is the initial shopping actually
Even if we'd repair the existing pieces, the issue would be the finish & I am never going to be the guy who'll ever compromise on the final product for the sake of saving a few bucks

@nnabeel Bhai, i have come to know that @abdulmunimqadri will convert this rust bucket into live coaster again Insha Allah.

Dear just advice for you to update price of parts with pictures and also share share the point of sourcing.

I will again suggest for keeping dashboard restored & engine to stock.
