Assalamualikum everyone,
I am driving a Toyota Vitz 2007 model with the 1.0 3 cylinder engine. Yesterday while inspecting my car, I noticed an oil leak coming from the valve cover gaskit. I took the car to the mechanic he told me "tappet cover jain ki leak hai". I want to ask weather the valve cover gaskit and "tappet cover jain" are the same thing?
My second question is regarding engine oil grade. I bought this car around 6 months back and changed the oil. I used ZIC 20w-50 fully synthetic oil. Do I need to change my oil grade or keep using the same grade?

Yes tappet cover and valve cover r same thing.
20w50 is not suitable for vitz 1.0.5w30 is recommended.20w50 is for that car that burns oil too much.

Thank you! I asked my mechanic about the engine oil grade and he said I should keep using 20w-50. If i'll change the grade now, the engine will start smoking. What do you think i should do to change my oil grade?

Desi mechanic,s logic is thicker the oil better it is.Use recommended oil grade.

Get 5w30 caltex havolin. Use it and observe if you are loosing oil. A small amount off oil loss over a few thousand km's is normal. But you will observe the engine performing much better on the 5w30

If I may correct you, these 1KRs guzzle down .3 to .5l per 1000 km.

Hi guys, I have Toyota vitz 2014/17, 1.0, 50,000 km driven and i always take it to Toyota motors for periodic maintenance. I am not a car enthusiast and don't know much about the engine oil variants and what they do to the engine but I realized that toyota workers have been putting SAE 20w-50 oil in my car regularly. Now i wonder if its suitable or not because I've been getting a poor mileage like 10km/l in the city. Please suggest me what to do to make things work here.

Yes Tappet cover "jain" is actually valve cover gasket. These street side mechanics name everything as they like. Btw original valve cover gasket is available at plaza karachi, bought it for 3k rs. Only add small dabs of High temp rtv (permatex black) where timing cover meets the block. Never allow the mechanic to apply it over all of the cover. torque the bolts properly.
