The 5th Generation E60 BMW 5 Series was introduced in 2003. The BMW 5 Series 5th Generation is a front engine rear wheel drive sedan. The 5th Generation BMW 5 Series featured a complete change in design language compared to the previous 4th Generation 5 Series. The BMW 5 Series 5th Generation features larger exterior dimensions when compared to the 4th Generation BMW 5 Series but it features more interior space and luggage capacity, and the body is more aerodynamically efficient. The 5th Generation BMW 5 Series is available in 9 models 520i, 525i, 528i, 530i, 545i, 550i, M5, 520d and 525d. Production of the BMW 5 Series 5th Generation lasted for eight years. The BMW 5 Series was available to purchase during the years 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and the year 2010. The price of the BMW 5 Series 5th Generation is not competitive when compared to other models in the same class.

The exterior of the 5th Generation BMW 5 Series features unique design language. The front end houses sleek narrow side swept headlights, the classic BMW kidney grille, dual air intakes and standard circular fog lights. The rear end houses sharply sleek trapezium styled side swept headlights, a roof fin, and dual exhaust tips. The 5th Generation BMW M5 variant features a more aggressive and sporty design language. The front end houses a larger front bumper with larger air intakes, flared wheel arches, larger wheels, and tires. The rear end houses a larger rear bumper, a lip spoiler, and a sports exhaust system. The overall exterior of the 5th Generation BMW 5 Series features a fairly unique and distinctive design language that allow it to stand out amongst its rivals.
