The 1st Generation Daihatsu Tanto was introduced in 2003. The 2003 Daihatsu Tanto is a front engine front/four wheel drive subcompact kei car. Mechanically the Daihatsu Tanto is essentially a taller version of the Daihatsu Move. The main feature of the Daihatsu Tanto 2003 is that it features an ordinary rear side door on the left side but on the right side there is a sliding door without an intermediate pillar. Production of the 1st Generation Daihatsu Tanto lasted for 9 years, the Daihatsu Tanto was available to purchase in the years 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and the year 2011. All variants except the Custom feature identical styling in every aspect. The front end of the 1st Generation Daihatsu Tanto Custom features sharp narrow sleek side swept headlights, a chrome grille, triple air intake and long narrow rectangular fog lights. The rear end houses a roof spoiler angular side swept taillights and a standard case tailgate. The overall exterior of the 2003 Daihatsu Tanto features a fairly distinctive design language that allows it to stand out among its competition.
