The 1st Generation Toyota Rush is a front engine front/four wheel drive mini SUV.  Toyota Rush was developed in collaboration with Toyota and Daihatsu. The 1st Generation Toyota Rush features a unique design language. The front end features sharp sleek trapezium styled side swept headlights, a rectangularly shaped grille with a chrome accent, a large front bumper with a rectangular air intake and standard fog lights. The rear end features trapezium styled side swept taillights, the spare wheel, and a small rear bumper. All variants of the Toyota Rush feature identical styling in every aspect. The overall exterior of the 1st Generation Toyota Rush features a fairly unique design language that allows it to differentiate itself from other cars in its class.

1st Generation Toyota Rush comes with black plastic trim pieces. The front and rear seats are covered in fabric. Standard features on the X Variant include a trip computer, multifunction steering wheel, Stereo speaker system with CD and AUX input, a 12V power socket, air conditioning, cup holders, power steering, power lock doors and a tachometer. Features on the higher end G variant include a rear roof spoiler, front fog lights and push- start button. Options include climate control, Xenon headlights and leather upholstery. The overall interior of the 1st Generation Toyota Rush features a decent amount of interior space in the front but a lack of interior space in the rear for a mini SUV of its exterior dimensions, it also features a decent level of comfort and refinement.
