The 2nd Generation Honda Insight was introduced in 2009. Honda Insight is a front engine front wheel drive hybrid electric vehicle. Honda launched the 2nd Generation Honda Insight in direct competition to the Toyota Prius. The Honda Insight (2009-2014) is based on the same platform that underpins the Honda CR-Z. Production of the Honda Insight 2nd Generation lasted for 6 years and Honda halted the production in 2014. The price of the 2nd Generation Honda Insight is fairly competitive when compared to other models in the same class available in the local market.

The exterior of the 2nd Generation Honda Insight features a unique design language. The front end houses sleek narrow side swept headlights, a small chrome grille, a trapezium air intake, a largely curved bumper and standard rectangular fog lights. The sloping rear end houses triangular side swept taillights and a standard case hatchback. All variants of the Honda Insight feature identical styling in every aspect. The overall exterior of the 2nd Generation Honda Insight features a fairly familiar Honda design language that is able to differentiate itself from its rivals.

The interior of the 2nd Generation Honda Insight compromises of black plastic trim pieces. The front and rear seats are covered in fabric. Standard features on the base variant includes include power door mirrors, power windows, automatic climate control, 2-speaker stereo system and multifunction steering wheel. Features on the LX variant includes a multifunction steering wheel, 4-speaker stereo audio system and a front center armrest. Features on the highest end EX variant includes allow wheels, turn signal indicator mirrors, heated mirrors a standard, 6-speaker stereo audio system as standard and leather upholstery as standard. Options on the higher end variants include heated door mirrors, satellite navigation, auto-dimming rearview mirror, cruise control, 6-speaker stereo system, compass and leather upholstery. The overall interior of the 2nd Generation Honda Insight features a good amount of space in the front and rear and a decent amount of cargo capacity. It provides a good level of combination of comfort, refinement, and luxury.
