The Nissan Murano is a mid-size crossover SUV made by Nissan. It was first unveiled in May 2002 for the 2003 model year, and the fourth generation was introduced in October 2024.

The Murano was Nissan's only crossover SUV until the Rogue came out in September 2007 in the US. The Murano is placed between the larger Pathfinder and the now-discontinued Xterra.  Between 2011 and 2014, Nissan also made a convertible version of the Murano called the Murano CrossCabriolet. In 2018, the Murano has been positioned between the X-Trail and Pathfinder in Nissan's SUV lineup.

The name "Murano" comes from the Italian islands of Murano, famous for their beautiful glass art.

There are a total of four generations of Murano with different code names, i.e., Z50, Z51, Z52, and Z53. Nissan Murano comprises various trims named S, SV, Midnight Edition, SL, and Platinum. It's currently in its fourth generation and still in production.

What's New For 2025?

For 2025, the Nissan Murano is completely redesigned. It has replaced the V-6 engine and CVT with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission.

Both the front and rear seats use Nissan's Zero Gravity design, which provides comfort for long drives. The Murano features two large 12.3-inch screens on the dashboard, surrounded by a unique design inspired by Murano glass. These screens are customizable and blend together to create a smooth, connected look. They even include live wallpaper, which changes to match the surroundings for a more dynamic display.

The heads-up display keeps the necessary information in front of the driver, which helps to ensure safe and reliable driving. 

Infotainment 

The Murano features dual 12.3-inch color displays that function as the infotainment system and gauge cluster. Higher trims include Nissan's Google-based infotainment software. All models come with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while SL and Platinum trims add in-dash navigation powered by Google Maps.

Standard features include active sound cancellation, a wireless smartphone charging pad, a SiriusXM satellite radio, four USB-C ports, and a six-speaker stereo. SL and Platinum trims enhance the audio experience with a 10-speaker Bose audio system, Amazon Alexa voice assistant, and an in-car Wi-Fi hotspot.
