Tesla is an American automotive company headquartered in Austria, Texas. It designs, manufactures, and sells electric vehicles and stationary battery energy storage devices, including home and grid-scale storage. It also sells solar panels and solar shingles. Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning founded Tesla Motors in July 2003. 

Tesla is a tribute to the inventor and electric engineer Nikola Tesla. Elon Musk (CEO of Tesla) became the largest shareholder in the company in February 2004 and was named CEO in 2008.

Introduction 

Tesla Model X is a midsize electric luxury crossover SUV introduced in 2015. It is developed from the Tesla Model S (full-sized sedan) platform and features unique Falcon doors for rear passengers. The Model X shares most of its parts with the Model S and is manufactured in Fremont, California. After its release in 2016, it became the seventh top-selling vehicle. 

In terms of sales and production, the company started taking reservations for Model X in February 2012 without revealing the prices. The company claimed to deposit $5000 for the standard model and $40,000 for a limited "Signature" edition. More than 20,000 orders of Tesla Model X were placed, and the number reached 30,000 by August 2015, which showed the interest of customers in this luxury electric crossover SUV. 

The first six "Founder Series" were delivered at Fremont on September 29, 2015, followed by the Signature edition, which was priced between $132,000 and $144,000. In the beginning, deliveries were set to the US only. However, its sighting in early 2016 led to speculation that Audi might be monitoring it for its own electric SUV project. 

Tesla managed to deliver just 206 Model X vehicles by the end of 2015, partly due to shortages of certain parts in early 2016. Tesla admitted that they had been overly ambitious with some of the car's features. By April 2016, Tesla had completed the first Model X, which didn't need any corrections after production. By September 2018, this brand had sold more than 100,000 units. However, production limitations and market-specific strategies affected its availability. In 2023, Tesla announced that right-hand drive versions of the Model X would not be available in the UK and Ireland anytime soon.

The 2025 Tesla Model X will remain essentially unchanged with its original design since its debut in 2016.
