The new model of Toyota Prado, supposed to launch in 2023, has been pushed to April 2024. According to international media, most of the details about the new Prado remain unchanged, including a transition to a version of the 300 Series' TNGA-frame platform, but a report from Japanese media suggested a new petrol engine. Powertrain  The same report from Magazine X also claimed that the company would change the car's official name from Land Cruiser Prado to Land Cruiser 250 Series in Japan. Furthermore, the Japanese market will get a new 2.4-liter turbo-petrol from Lexus NX and Toyota Kluger, replacing the 2.7-liter 2TR-FE naturally aspirated petrol 4-cylinder engine. Meanwhile, the famous 2.8-liter turbo diesel 4-cylinder engine will reportedly remain in the market, although some reports suggested that the company would install two electric motors to increase horsepower and torque, and fuel economy. Renderings of Toyota Prado 2024 Amid all this, the global car blog, WhichCar?, has rendered the 2024 Prado. It is important to note that the new model has not been spied in testing in any sort, as the company keeps it completely under the wraps. Here are the unofficial renderings of the car: [gallery bgs_gallery_type="slider" ids="175619,175621,175623,175625,175627,175629,175633"] Expected Exterior & Interior Changes The renderings are based on new car models, i.e., the 300 Series, mixed with the Prado design history and a rendering by the Japanese auto blog, BestCarWeb. The Japanese blog is famous for being fairly close in its renders, citing inside sources.  The reports have suggested that the new Prado will be more aggressive and rugged while not losing its elegance. The interior is expected to be more modern with new tech features, including an infotainment screen and connectivity features. Today, we present an owner's review of the Toyota Prado 2005. The 3rd generation Prado, also known as the 120 series, came in 4 main variants and 4 engine options. This particular car is the top-of-the-line TZG variant with a 3.4 liter 5vz-FE engine producing 190 horsepower and 294Nm of torque paired with a 5-speed automatic transmission. Purchase Decision The owner previously had a Toyota Surf and was looking for an SUV in good condition. He also considered other cars like Lexus RX 450 but opted for the Prado as it was very well kept and was in genuine condition. He bought this car back in 2017 for Rs. 4.8 million. Salient features According to the owner," It has all the new SUVs' features." These include Dual-zone climate control, an infotainment system with a rearview camera, electric seats, and cruise control. This particular variant also comes with air suspension to control the height. Meanwhile, off-road features include downhill assist, differential lock, and a 4-wheel drive system. Comfort in Toyota Prado Toyota Prado's comfort is impressive," It has leather seats and cushioning is very soft," stated the owner. Front seats also have lumbar support and heating function, which can be effective in winters. Headroom and legroom is pretty good in the front and second row, and passengers can travel very comfortably, but third-row space is compromised and not suitable for accommodating adults. Handling and Suspension As per the owner, low and high-speed handling is good; the car stays stable at high speeds with no sign of vibration or rattling. The car's suspension response is impressive, as it has AIRMATIC suspension, which is very soft on rough roads and provides a comfortable ride within the city. Storage Spaces in Toyota Prado  The storage spaces are sufficient in the interior; there are cup holders, a sunglasses holder, a decent-sized glovebox, and center armrest, which also serves as a cool box. Boot space is also good, but it is compromised if the third row is occupied; however, the tailgate has compartments for decent storage. AC Performance The car comes with dual-zone climate control, and according to the owner, AC performance is very good even in the scorching weather of Karachi. The vehicle also has AC vents for rear passengers and a dual compressor that provides optimal cooling throughout the interior. Fuel Average This particular car has a 3.4-liter v6 engine, and it is pretty heavy on fuel. The owner gets a fuel average of 5.5 km/l within the city and around 7 km/l on the highway. Known Issues in Toyota Prado  The owner mentioned two known problems that Prado has, including the cracking dashboard; this often happens with Prado due to heat and exposure to sunlight. The second problem is the AIRMATIC suspension failure, as it has a lifetime of around 200,000 kilometers and often breaks down after that. Maintenance and Spare parts The owner changes the car's oil at an interval of 4000kms, and the price is nominal. Spare parts are also readily available, even in different qualities and prices vary depending on the quality of parts. According to the company, the new rates include ex-plant prices and will be applicable from today, July 7, 2020. According to a notification, the company has increased the price of Lexus LC200 VX A/T (Diesel) will now cost Rs51,370,000, comparing to its old price of Rs46,500,000. Meanwhile, LC200 VX A/T (Gasoline) has seen jump of Rs4,650,000 and will now cost Rs52,650,000 from Rs48,00,000. Meanwhile, the price of Prado 4.0 Petrol A/T is increased by Rs3,010,000 and will cost Rs41,410,000 from old price of Rs38,400,000. Prado’s 3.0 Diesel Turbo A/T will now cost Rs39,270,000, after seeing increase of Rs2,570,000. The company has increased the rate of Prius 1.8L by Rs900,000, taking the price from Rs8,370,000 to Rs9,270,000. Meanwhile, the amount of Camry High Grade has seen a jump of Rs2,130,000, as it will now cost Rs18,630,000, comparing to its old price of Rs16,500,000. Furthermore, the company has hiked the price of different models of Hiace up to Rs480,000. After the revised price list, Hiace High Roof (Diesel) will now cost Rs7,350,000, comparing to its old rate of Rs6,870,000. Meanwhile, Hiace Mid Roof Dual AC (Gasoline)’s new rate is Rs6,620,000, seeing a jump of Rs430,000 from Rs6,190,000. The new price of this vehicle is Rs11,120,000, while the old rate was Rs9,999,000. According to the notification, the GAT version of Rush car will now cost Rs5,840,000, with an increase of Rs620,000. Meanwhile, the new price of Rush GMT is Rs5,630,000 as compared to its old rate of Rs5,040,000, seeing a jump of Rs590,000. Earlier Price Hikes:  The fresh price hike has come amid a recent jump in rates by all top car manufacturers of Pakistan in the last few days. Earlier, the company hiked prices of (4×4) Toyota Hilux cars. The revised prices for four variants were issued after the government imposed 7.5% FED on locally manufactured double cabin cars, while 25% FED was imposed on imported ones under FY Budget 2020-21. According to the new notification, the price of IMV III STD has been hiked from Rs5,499,000 to Rs5,912,000, with an increase of Rs413,000. Meanwhile, Revo GMT will now cost Rs6,342,000, after an increase of Rs443,000 from previous price of Rs5,899,000. Furthermore, the new price of Revo G AT is Rs6,664,000, as its old price was Rs6,199,000. The model has seen a jump of Rs465,000. The fourth variant for Hilux, Revo V AT will now be available at the price of Rs7,041,000, seeing an increase of Rs492,000 from the old price of Rs6,549,000.
