Tesla began developing the Model S around 2007 under the project name "WhiteStar." Initially, Henrik Fisker—known for designing Aston Martin cars—was chosen as the lead designer, but Franz von Holzhausen later replaced him after disagreements with Tesla CEO Elon Musk. The Model S’s sloped roofline cleverly conceals a rear liftgate that opens to reveal a spacious 26-cubic-foot trunk. We managed to fit eight carry-on suitcases without folding the rear seats. Inside the cabin, storage for smaller items is limited, particularly in the back seat. However, a large underfloor bin in the rear cargo area helps compensate for the lack of interior storage.
