What's Cool About My Ride

This 1973 Volkswagen Beetle arrived at the Karachi Bin Qasim Port on the 21st of August, 1978, and was delivered to my father's professor Dr. Mohsin Siddique who at that time resided in North Nazimabad. This original 1303 S was painted in 'Brilliant Orange' and dressed in black upholstery when it rolled-off the Volkswagen factory located in Emden, NW Germany, in the August of 1972. The beetle originally came with a 1600cc engine and front disc brakes, all of which came under the umbrella of the 1303 S variant. The beetle is at present owned by my father Dr. Masroor Mirza who during his childhood considered VW beetles to be the best of cars and 1303s to be the 'Queen of Beetles' and had the 1303 S become a part of his 'Dream Machines'' wish-list. This air-cooled machine is marvellously well-preserved and was restored in the past keeping original specifications in consideration, and was never neglected by its previous owners, thus accounting for the beetle's rustless body and the original parts that are still present even after the elapse of 43 years. This very beetle is amongst the first batch of 1303s that were ever engineered, though it didn't had its first owner until 1978, and remained in a VW dealership in NW Germany till the day it was loaded-up into a container, destined to arrive in Pakistan. Thus this beetle is entitled to great rarity and uniqueness amongst all 1303s, and is adored and well-taken care of by everyone in our family. A picture of a 1973 'Brilliant Orange' 1303 S has been included in the pictures above for reference as to how our beetle might have looked like when it left the factory in 1972.
