The 1st Generation Mercedes C-Class was introduce in 1994. The 1st Gen Mercedes C-Class is a front engine front wheel drive subcompact sedan. The 1st Generation C-Class was Mercedes first attempt at a compact executive car. The car remained to be the cheapest and smallest car Mercedes made until 1997 when Mercedes announced the smaller A-Class hatchback. The car was available in 6 variants C180, C200, C220, C240, C280 and C36 AMG. The Mercedes C-Class was available in 2 versions 4-door sedan and 5-door station wagon. Production of the Mercedes C-Class 1st Generation lasted for 7 years, the Mercedes C-Class was available to purchase in the years 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999 and the year 2000. The Mercedes C-Class was available in 2 variants Kompressor and Base.  The price of the Mercedes C-Class 1st Generation was not competitive when compared to other cars in the same class.

Exterior

The exterior of the 1st Generation Mercedes C-Class features a very boxy design language. The front fascia compromises of rectangular headlights, a rectangular chrome grille with multiple inlets, an angular trapezium shaped front intake and a small bumper. The rear end features triangle styled stacked rear taillights. The styling of the 5-door station wagon features identical styling apart from the fact that is slightly longer to accommodate the rear doors. The C36 AMG variant featured a larger front grille with a larger front intake, a larger rear bumper, and dual sport exhaust tips. The overall exterior of the 1st Generation Mercedes C-Class is very square shaped and features minimalistic styling.

Interior

The interior of the 1st Generation Mercedes C-Class compromises the use of light brown plastic trim pieces. The seats are covered in fabric. Standard features on the base variant include cup holders, power windows, power steering, power lock doors, power heated mirrors, keyless entry, cruise control, and air conditioning. Features on the higher end Kompressor variant include automatic climate control, leather upholstery, power front seats, leather steering wheel, and rain-sensing windscreen wipers. Options include an integrated cell phone, power moonroof, CD input on the stereo speaker system, headlight cleaning system, rear window blind and heated front seats.  The overall interior of the 1st Generation Mercedes C-Class features an average amount of interior space, it also offers a good amount of comfort and refinement.
