Mercedes Benz S Class 4th (W220) Generation Overview

The 4th Generation W220 Mercedes S-Class was launched in July 1998. The 4th generation Mercedes S-Class was a front Engine drive available in rear and four-wheel drive. The W220 S-Class was completely restyled as compared to its predecessor W140. Mercedes focused on elegance and styled W220 more in a rounded shape.The W220 was available in following models S280,S320,S320 CDI,S400 CDI,S350,S430,S500,S600,S55,S63 and S65.The new S-class brought in innovations such as Airmatic suspension and ventilated seats. Mercedes produced 485000 units of this luxury sedan from 1998 to 2005.

Exterior

The exterior of W220 received a refreshed look. The grille angle was adjusted to a more upright position and the xenon headlamps were in a new transparent housing which replaced the earlier opaque version. The air intakes on front bumper were also restyled.

Interior

The interior of the W220 was very luxurious and inviting.the interior had a cockpit-like feel and formidable array of electronics.W220 was equipped with a navigation system with centre console-mounted screen display, command input control system, keyless entry with ignition, radar control, cylinder shut-off and much more.
