One of the hottest cars of the year, the 11th generation Civic, has been making headlines in the international markets and winning multiple awards. And now the all-new Honda Civic 2022 has arrived in our local market in three variants.
Honda Atlas revealed the prices of three variants a while back. Everyone was waiting to see the car and know its specs and features. Last week, the company finally displayed the car and revealed its offerings. We are here with the first look review of the top-of-the-line variant, Honda Civic RS. Let’s see our expert’s first impressions of the car.
Exterior
How does the new Civic look? What are its styling and design influences? Let’s find out.
Front Profile
The first thing you notice about the new Honda Civic’s front profile is its eyebrow-shaped LED DRLs. And the next thing will be the matrix style 3D LED bi-beam projector headlights. Then, there’s the hammerhead grille with a subtle matte black finish with the Honda logo in the centre. Underneath that, there’s another honeycomb-style grille to cool off the engine. There are LED fog lights integrated into the matte black front bumper.
The car’s hood has a clamshell design, with the bonnet and bumper joining in a partial clamshell style. There are smart clean water-saving wipers that automatically sense the rain and wipe the windscreen. There is also a Honda Sensing camera just above the automatic rain sensor.
Side Profile
On the side of Honda Civic RS, we have the exclusive 17-inch alloy wheels in black. The new Honda Civic RS ditches the chrome linings around the doors and door handles. Everything in the new design, the side-view mirrors, door handles, bumpers, is matte black or gloss black.
Another distinctive feature is the laser brazed aluminum roof that makes the exterior design seamless and improves the car’s aerodynamics. With this lightweight roof, the car cuts through the air and delivers better fuel efficiency.
The C-pillar design resembles the 10th generation Civic. The A-pillar has been pushed by 1 to 2 inches, which elongates the hood and gives the car a sporty look. The straight waistline goes all the way from the front to the rear and gives the car a clean look.
Rear Profile
From the back, the new Civic looks less sporty but more mature than the old Civic. The RS variant has an exclusive ducktail spoiler, black shark fin antenna, reflector lights, dual exhaust tips with chrome lining, and a diffuser.
The taillights give the look of a German car when lit up at night. There are also LED brake lights, and halogen bulb turn signals at the back.
Trunk
The smart key has a boot release button to open the trunk slowly. The car has 409 litres of boot space with a full-size spare wheel. There’s no 60:40 rear seat split, so that’s all the boot space you get. The boot is completely carpeted with an NVH insulation pad that reduces the road noise in the car cabin.

Engine
What’s under the car’s hood? How much power does the car have? Here are the answers.
All Honda Civic variants are powered with a 1.5-litre turbocharged, which in this variant produces 176 horsepower and 220 Nm of torque. This engine has been carried from the 10th generation Civic model. It’s an award-winning engine with the highest power figures in its class. There’s also an NVH padding in the hood to reduce engine noise.
Dimensions
Is the new Civic the same size as the old one? No, not really.
Overall, the new Civic is 30 mm longer, 3 mm wider, and 1 mm lower than the old model. This gives the car a broader and bulkier stance. The new model’s wheelbase is 35 mm bigger than the older model, which improves the car’s ride and handling and makes it more spacious inside the cabin.
Interior
Here’s what’s inside the car’s cabin.
Entry
There are multiple ways to enter the new Honda Civic RS. You have the remote key with a car lock/unlock button, a trunk opener button, and a remote engine start button.
There’s an RS exclusive smart card to enter the car. Keep the card with you and simply place your hand in the driver’s seat door handle, and the car will be automatically unlocked. Press the button on the door handle to lock the car when leaving.
There’s also an emergency key in the smart card that you can use to manually unlock the car door if your smart card is out of battery. How cool?
Steering
There’s a leather-wrapped three-spoke steering wheel with media control, MID (Multi-Information Display) control, and cruise control buttons. The steering wheel also has paddle shifters.
Instrument Cluster
Start the engine with the push start button, and the instrument cluster lights up. There’s a digital speedometer on the right and a 7-inch TFT display on the left. The screen shows a digital tachometer with other information, such as the range, fuel average, average speed, trip time, driver attention warning, maintenance, safety support, etc. You can change the information with the steering control button and customize the display.
Dashboard
The dashboard’s most noticeable feature is the 9-inch tablet-style Android touchscreen, which is a new thing for a Civic. All the previous local and international Civic models had Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionalities.
The overall dashboard design is our favourite thing about the car’s interior. This design has the retro feel of the 1960s and 70s style American muscle cars. There’s a single honeycomb mesh pattern AC grille with joystick knobs.
There’s a beautifully styled dual-zone climate control system with tactile knobs and buttons. This system resembles the one in the new Honda Vezel. Underneath the AC system, there’s a 12V charging socket.
Centre Console
The centre console has been completely redesigned from the 10th generation Civic. This one’s a bit traditional with less space.
Honda Civic Rs has an LL-CVT module with smooth gear shifting. There’s a drive mode switching toggle, just like the Japanese Honda Vezel. Then, there are Electronic Parking Brake and Brake Hold buttons and two adaptive cup holders. The armrest is soft, well-rested, and spacious.
Ambient Lighting
Civic RS has welcoming red ambient lighting in the front doors, two LED lights in the centre console, and red ambient lighting in the footrest.
Seating
The new Civic has ample headroom and legroom. Leather seats are well-cushioned and extremely comfortable compared to the last model. There are centre armrests at the front and rear. The rear seats have AC vents but no USB charging ports.

Safety
Honda Civic RS has two airbags, ABS, EBD, Vehicle Stability Control, Hill Assist Control, Traction Control, and Honda Sensing safety suite with Collision Mitigation Braking System, Lead Car Departure Notification System, Road Departure Mitigation System, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, Traffic Sign Recognition, and Auto High Beam.
Price
The price of top-of-the-line Honda Civic RS is Rs. 6,150,000.
Overall, Honda Pakistan has done a phenomenal job with the 11th generation Civic. This car has everything it takes to beat the competition. The exterior and interior styling, material quality, drive, and comfort of this car are beyond any other C-segment sedan.
