Suzuki Swift GLX CVT 2023 Price in Pakistan, Specs & Features

Weeks ago, Pakistan Suzuki Motor Company came with good news for consumers – resumed the bookings of all cars. The automakers didn’t lace the bookings with time limitations but things look different again, as the company has restricted the booking of top variant of Swift dubbed GLX CVT to limited units. The company’s social media read: “Back in the game, Booking Now Open for the Suzuki Swift GLX CVT (top variant), For a limited time.” Again, the reason behind the limited time could be the prevailing fuss pertaining to import curbs inflicted by the State bank of Pakistan. The past few months have been crucial for the local automobile industry, given the prevailing economic downturn laced with import restrictions imposed by the State Bank of Pakistan. Import embargo urged the automakers to announce back-to-back production cuts and booking suspensions, which in turn led to low sales and a slump in profit charts. Booking Opens for All Suzuki Cars Pakistan Suzuki Motor Company (PSMC) was among the car companies facing the same fate. However, in a bid to bring things on track, the company has resumed the bookings for all cars. Earlier, Pak Suzuki announced the same, but for corporate customers restrained to the confined numbers of units and models.  Therefore, as per a recent notification, the bookings have been resumed for all customers. Each model will be sold under the terms of a specific quota, and the delivery time for all models will be 2 months. The wave of car price increases seems to be out of control as rates of new cars have gone out of reach of the common person. One look at these prices can give you a heart attack because they are so high that they look unreal. The car companies have blamed COVID-19, record-high freight rates, and very expensive raw materials. Meanwhile, the rapid devaluation of the Pakistan rupee against the US dollar has been identified as the main reason for the fresh price hikes.  In the last couple of days, Pak Suzuki and Changan Master Motors increased prices, and after these revisions, a hatchback has become more expensive than a sedan.  Suzuki Swift Vs Changan Alsvin  If you look at the new rates, the price of Suzuki Swift GLX CVT (top-of-the-line variant) now costs more than Changan Alsvin Lumiere, which is also a top-of-the-line variant of the car. As mentioned earlier, Swift is a B-segment hatchback - no surprise there - meanwhile, Alsvin is a B-segment sedan.  Here are the revised prices of these two cars:  Suzuki Swift GXL CVT - Rs. 3,959,000 Changan Alsvin Lumiere - Rs. 3,844,000 There is a difference of Rs. 115,000. Isn't it just shocking? The more alarming aspect of this whole issue is that there seems to be no respite for consumers in the near future; prices wise. If the current economic and political situation sustained, there are pretty high chances that prices will go up in the coming days.  It is also pertinent to mention that Suzuki Swift was launched for Rs. 2,899,000 on February 25, 2022. It means, in only five months, the price of this car has been increased by a huge Rs. 1,060,000. Again, isn't it just shocking??? We have finally got the latest generation Swift, after a long wait of 11 years. Honestly, we were not expecting Suzuki to add this many features in the new model. But the company has surprised everyone by transforming this economy hatchback into a premium car.  Look at the feature comparison of the top-of-the-line variants of old and new Swift, and you’ll get what we are talking about. New Swift GLX CVT vs Old Swift DLX A/T, here we go. Dimensions The new Swift is bigger than the old one in length and width. The old model was 3755 mm long, 1690 mm wide, and 1525 mm tall. The new model is 3845 mm long, 1735 mm wide, and 1520 mm tall. Same boot space in both cars; 268 litres in the old model and 265 litres in the new one. Engine & Transmission The old Swift had a bigger engine than the new one; not more powerful, just bigger in size. It was powered by a 1328cc DOHC engine that produced 89 horsepower and 114 Nm of torque. The new model has a 1197cc K-series DOHC engine that produces 83 horsepower and 113 Nm of torque. The new Swift delivers the same power with a smaller engine and less token tax. The top-of-the-line variant of old Swift came with a 4-speed automatic transmission. The new one has CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) with a Sports mode. Exterior Looks-wise, the new Swift is miles ahead of the old Swift. It has automatic LED projection headlights with integrated LED DRLs, halogen fog lamps, a beautiful honeycomb grille with a chrome line, electrically adjustable and retractable side mirrors, LED rear combination rear lights, brake lamp, 16-inch diamond-cut two-tone alloy wheels, and a rear wiper with washer. The old Swift had a basic exterior with halogen single barrel headlights, halogen fog lamps, electrically adjustable side mirrors, 15-inch alloy wheels, and halogen bulb rear lights. No DRLs, no rear wiper, no automatic adjustment feature in headlights, non-retractable side mirrors. [gallery bgs_gallery_type="slider" ids="160410,160390,160646,160408,160396"] Interior Suzuki has completely revamped the interior of Swift. The old model had fabric seats, a conventional plastic steering wheel with tilt adjustment, manual air conditioning system, and a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen.  The new model has a modern D-shaped leather-wrapped steering wheel with media control and cruise control buttons, tilt and telescopic adjustment, a three-tier instrument cluster with an advanced Multi-Information Display (MID), automatic climate control, driver’s seat height adjustment, and a 9-inch Android infotainment touchscreen.   Safety The new Swift is more equipped than the old model on the safety front. We have six airbags, ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic Brake Distribution), VSC (Vehicle Stability Control), reverse camera, Hill Start Assist, rear parking sensors, cruise control in the top-of-the-line Swift GLX CVT variant. The old Swift only had ABS and EBD. No airbags or any other safety feature whatsoever. Price When Suzuki discontinued the old Swift last year, the top-of-the-line Swift DLX A/T variant price was Rs. 2,150,000. The price of the new fully-loaded Swift GLX CVT variant is Rs. 2,899,000.
