From now onwards, the Islamabad registered cars will have to go through Biometric verification system for the transferring of vehicles – Excise and Taxation Department, Islamabad.
Recently, in a public notice, the Excise and Taxation Department in Islamabad has announced that the people who are using vehicles under open letter or old transfer letter and haven’t transferred the vehicle on their name should go to near excise office and transfer the vehicle on their name. The transfer verification of the vehicle will be done through biometric verification.
It is to be noted here that the authority will officially launch the biometric transfer verification of vehicles from 15th July 2018. Moreover, both the buyer and the seller should be present at the excise office while transferring the vehicle through a biometric system.

After 15, July 2018 the old transfer letter will become invalid.
Aside from Excise and Taxation Department Islamabad, the same department in Punjab has also warned people who are using cars under the open letter. An official of customs department while talking to media said that computerized transfer deeds would be issued, which will include the complete information of transferee and the buyer. Additionally, the vehicle will be printed on them. The buyers and sellers just need to sign and put their thumb impressions on them and submit them to the authority. Moreover, the authority in Punjab from 1st May 2018 also made it compulsory for the buyer and seller to come to excise office to transfer the car to the new owner’s name.
