Why Are Car Prices Going Up Across All Brands?
The reason behind these price increases lies in the recent amendments introduced in the 2025-26 budget, which has affected the entire locally assembled automotive industry. The government has implemented an NEV adoption levy (New Energy Vehicle adoption tax), ranging from 1% to 3%, depending on the vehicle’s engine displacement.
As a result, all automakers, including Changan, have been forced to revise their prices in order to offset the additional costs imposed by this new levy. However, some manufacturers have absorbed the pricing, but the majority of brands have passed on some or all of the increased costs to customers.
