Chery Confirms Local Production of Tiggo 9 in Pakistan
Chery has confirmed that it will begin local assembly of Tiggo-7 and Tiggo-9 models in Pakistan. The announcement, made in a PR by the Master Group (which now owns Chery in Pakistan), stated that local production of Chery cars is set to begin by January 2026.
Along with the local production facility, the PR also stated that Chery Master plans to introduce both models as locally assembled vehicles rather than completely built-up (CBU) imports.
Coming to the the manufacturing facility, it spans over 60 acres, with an investment of about USD 150 million. Along with production readiness, Chery Master is also expanding its nationwide dealership network, which is expected to include 10 dealerships across Pakistan.
The PR also mentioned Chery’s plug-in hybrid (PHEV) technology, but it did not confirm whether this technology will be introduced in the locally assembled models, particularly the Tiggo 9 PHEV. The regular internal combustion engine (ICE) version of the Tiggo 9, however, is expected to be produced locally.
This move marks a major step for Chery’s re-entry and expansion in Pakistan’s crossover SUV market.
