The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) is set to introduce an online auction system for non-customs paid vehicles in a move aimed at bringing transparency and efficiency to the disposal process.

The decision was made during a follow-up meeting of the high-level committee on tampered and confiscated vehicles, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, on Thursday.

Presentation on New System

FBR officials briefed the committee on the proposed e-auction module, highlighting its role in ensuring fairness and streamlining the auctioning process for seized vehicles. The module is expected to minimize manual intervention and strengthen oversight of the entire process.

Alongside the digital system, the FBR will issue a fresh Customs General Order (CGO) covering the disposal of tampered and confiscated vehicles.

The sub-committee formed for this purpose reviewed the existing legal framework, deliberated extensively, and unanimously finalized the CGO. The Deputy Prime Minister formally approved the order.

Government’s Commitment

Senator Dar reiterated the government’s commitment to adopting technology-driven solutions for public resource management. He emphasized that the new system would not only enhance transparency but also generate optimal revenue through structured auctions of confiscated vehicles.

Way Forward

The introduction of the e-auction platform and the updated CGO mark a significant step in overhauling the disposal process. The initiative reflects the government’s commitment to modernizing customs practices and ensuring the efficient management of seized assets.
