In a landmark move toward environmental protection and public health, the Government of Punjab has extended the free vehicle emissions testing deadline to August 31, 2025. This initiative, spearheaded by the Environment Protection Department (EPA), is part of a wider strategy to curb air pollution, promote responsible vehicle usage, and encourage cleaner transportation systems across the province.
Lahore, like many urban centres in Pakistan, has struggled with deteriorating air quality, smog, and increased health concerns linked to vehicular pollution. This extension offers a golden opportunity for vehicle owners to align with emission standards at no cost, while contributing to a more sustainable environment.
Who Is Required to Get Their Vehicle Tested?
Not every vehicle on the road needs to undergo emissions testing. The EPA has clearly defined the criteria to simplify the process:
Exempted Vehicles:
- Cars and Light Transport Vehicles (LTVs) that were manufactured in 2022 or later
- Any vehicle up to 3 years old from the manufacturing date
- These vehicles do not require emissions testing or a QR sticker
This rule is effective immediately, allowing newer vehicles to bypass the testing process altogether.
Schedule & Emission Testing Booths Locations
To ensure convenience, the emissions testing booths operate six days a week:
- Days: Monday to Saturday
- Timings: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Break: 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM (Lunch/Prayer Break)
The EPA has established 20 fully operational ETS booths across Lahore. These locations span key residential, commercial, and institutional zones to ensure easy access for all city residents.
